国際哲学オリンピック・ウィーン大会の結果について第 19 回国際哲学オリンピックの年次大会は去る 5 月 26 日～29 日にウィーンで行われました。30 か国から 64 人の高校生が参加して、哲学エッセイを競いました。日本からは笹埜健斗君（岡山操山高校 1 年）と笠井淳吾君（開成高校 1 年）が出場し、健闘しましたが、メダルの獲得は成りませんでした。結果は以下の通りです。金 Nikolaj Møller デンマーク銀 Chang Hyun CHOI 銀 José Rodrigues ポルトガル銅 Niklas Plaetzer ドイツ銅 Sakari Nuuttila フィンランド銅 Stavros Orfeas ZORMBALAS 韓国ギリシア他に佳作が 15 人いましたが、名前は省略します。 64 人の「選手たち」は次の 4 題から一題を選び、四時間かけて外国語で哲学エッセイを書きました。その 4 題を英語で示します。 ① He who learns but does not think is lost; he who thinks but does not learn is in danger. (Confucious, Analects 2.15) ② To a wise man the whole world is open. For the whole cosmos is the fatherland of a good soul. (Democritus of Abdera, fragment 247) ③ Thus the distinct boundaries and offices of reason and of taste are easily ascertained. The former conveys the knowledge of truth and falsehood: the latter gives the sentiment of beauty and deformity, vice and virtue. The one discovers objects as they really stand in nature, without addition or diminution: the other has a productive faculty, and gilding or staining all natural objects with the colours, borrowed from internal sentiment, raises in a manner a new creation ・・・ (David Hume, An Enquiry concerning the Principles of Morals [1751]) ④ Art is not a copy of the real world. One of the damn things is enough.
