Lectura bíblica
Lucas 2:40 Y el niño crecía y se fortalecía, y se llenaba de sabiduría; y la gracia de Dios era
sobre él.
41 Iban sus padres todos los años a Jerusalén en la fiesta de la pascua;
42 y cuando tuvo doce años, subieron a Jerusalén conforme a la costumbre de la fiesta.
43 Al regresar ellos, acabada la fiesta, se quedó el niño Jesús en Jerusalén, sin que lo supiesen
José y su madre.
44 Y pensando que estaba entre la compañía, anduvieron camino de un día; y le buscaban entre
los parientes y los conocidos;
45 pero como no le hallaron, volvieron a Jerusalén buscándole.
46 Y aconteció que tres días después le hallaron en el templo, sentado en medio de los doctores
de la ley, oyéndoles y preguntándoles.
48 Cuando le vieron, se sorprendieron; y le dijo su madre: Hijo, ¿por qué nos has hecho así?
He aquí, tu padre y yo te hemos buscado con angustia.
49 Entonces él les dijo: ¿Por qué me buscabais? ¿No sabíais que en los negocios de mi Padre

acerca del pasaje bíblico
Entre las fechas importantes del pueblo de Israel estaba la celebración de la pascua, aproximadamente en la época de la primavera, cuando la vegetación empieza a florecer. Era una
gran fiesta donde se juntaba mucha gente, había mucha comida y comercio. La gente viajaba a Jerusalén en grupos o en caravanas desde
sus pueblos de origen y algunos lo hacían en
asnos o camellos, pero la mayoría a pie. Llevaban provisiones y seguramente los que vivían
en pueblos cercanos cargaban corderos para el
sacrificio en el templo.
A un chico de trece años se le consideraba casi
un hombre, por eso era común que un año
antes de que cumpliera esta edad, las familias
le dieran a conocer las obligaciones religiosas
que tendría como adulto, entre ellas, emprender un viaje de peregrinación a la ciudad santa. A Jesús no le llamaba la atención los juegos
o golosinas, sino llegar a la casa de su Padre,
para completar su formación religiosa.
¡Es tiempo de empezar!
Al llegar los niños recíbalos con cariño. Inicie
con una oración y luego invítelos a cantar alabanzas al Señor, pueden usar un pandero, rote
el mismo entre los niños para que cada uno
acompañe la alabanza por unos segundos. In-

vítelos para que pasen a depositar sus ofrendas
en el recipiente respectivo, registre la asistencia y haga una oración al Señor pidiendo su
bendición para la reunión y por los niños.
Actividad introductoria
Antes que los niños lleguen busque un lugar
apropiado donde pueda esconder la llave del
salón (un recipiente, una caja...). Al llegar los
niños manifieste preocupación porque no sabe
dónde perdió las llaves. Permita que ellos expresen algunas posibilidades de ubicación de
las mismas. Luego solicite la ayuda a los niños
para buscarlas. Cuando la encuentren muestre
satisfacción y agradezca al niño o niña que las
halló. Pregúnteles: ¿cómo se sentirían si per-
dieran algo especial? Dé tiempo para sus respuestas. Finalmente, comente que en el presente estudio conocerán de Jesús cuando era
adolescente y se separó de sus padres para estar
en el templo.
Historia bíblica
En una ocasión cuando José y María eran viejos conversaban sobre los recuerdos agradables
de sus vidas y de la de su hijo Jesús. José recordaba que él era un chico obediente y que
siempre lo ayuda en el taller de carpintería.
Pero un pasaje en especial les llamó su atención. —¿José, te acuerdas cuando Jesús tenía
doce años? —preguntó María a su esposo.

Luke 2:40 And the Child grew and became strong in spirit, filled with wisdom; and the grace
of God was upon Him.
41 His parents went to Jerusalem every year at the Feast of the Passover.
42 And when He was twelve years old, they went up to Jerusalem according to the custom of
the feast.
43 When they had finished the days, as they returned, the Boy Jesus lingered behind in Jerusalem. And Joseph and His mother did not know it;
44 but supposing Him to have been in the company, they went a day’s journey, and sought
Him among their relatives and acquaintances.
45 So when they did not find Him, they returned to Jerusalem, seeking Him.
46 Now so it was that after three days they found Him in the temple, sitting in the midst of
the teachers, both listening to them and asking them questions.
48 So when they saw Him, they were amazed; and His mother said to Him, “Son, why have
You done this to us? Look, Your father and I have sought You anxiously.”
49 And He said to them, “Why did you seek Me? Did you not know that I must be about My
Father’s business?”
51 Then He went down with them and came to Nazareth, and was subject to them, but His
mother kept all these things in her heart.

Information for the teacher
about the Bible passage
Among the important dates in the people of
Israel was the Passover celebration, approximately in spring, when the vegetation started
to grow. It was a big festival where many people came together; there was plenty of food
and business. The people traveled to Jerusalem in groups or caravans from their towns of
origin and some did so on donkeys or camels,
but most traveled on foot. They took food,
and those who lived in nearby towns took
Passover lambs for the sacrifice in the temple.
A thirteen year old boy was considered to be
almost a man, and for this reason one year
before they reached that age, the families let
them know what religious obligations they
would have as adults, which included setting
out on a pilgrimage to the holy city. Jesus did
not care about games and snacks, but arriving
at His Father’s house in order to complete His
religious formation.
It’s time to start!
As the children arrive, greet them lovingly. Begin with a prayer and later invite them to sing
songs to the Lord using a tambourine; pass it
around among the children so that each one
can play it for a few seconds. Invite them to
come forward and deposit their offerings in
the appropriate reciprocal, take attendance,
and say a prayer to the Lord asking for His
blessing for this class and for the children.
Introductory activity
Before the children arrive, look for a place to
hide a key in the class (a container, box, etc.).
When the children arrive, look as if you are
worried because you do not know where you
left your keys. Allow them to suggest a few
places where the keys could be. Then, ask the
children to help you look for them. When
they have been found, express how happy you
are and thank the boy or girl who found them.
Ask: “how would you feel if you lost something special?” Give them time to respond.

Finally, explain that in this lesson they will get
to know Jesus when He was a pre teen and was
separated from His parents so He could go to
the temple.
Bible story
On one occasion, when Joseph and Mary were
old they were talking about some nice memories they had in their lives and that of their
son Jesus. Joseph remembered that He was an
obedient boy and He always helped in the carpenter’s shop. But one passage especially got
their attention. “Joseph, do you remember
when Jesus was twelve years old?” Mary asked
her husband. “We had to go to Jerusalem to
celebrate the Feast of the Passover every year.

José. Y cuando le dijimos que era el momento de partir, saltaba de alegría. —Viajamos
junto con otros peregrinos y cuando llegamos
a Jerusalén, Jesús se sorprendió por la cantidad de personas que habían llegado de otros
lugares para participar de esta importante celebración —dijo María y continúo —Durante
la fiesta Jesús estaba atento a cada acción que
se realizaba, porque Él tenía muchos deseos de
aprender. Lo inolvidable fue cuando la fiesta
terminó, la partida de los peregrinos fue tan
tumultuosa como su llegada. Las caravanas
salían al mismo tiempo, los caminos estaban
congestionados. Nosotros habíamos partido
con el grupo que regresaba a Nazaret y pensamos que Jesús iba con nosotros, pero después
de un día de camino nos dimos cuenta que no
se encontraba en el grupo. Le preguntamos a
nuestros familiares y conocidos, ¿han visto a
Jesús?, pero nadie nos supo decir nada de él.
Claro, —dijo José —, yo pensé que debíamos
volver a Jerusalén y me asusté al imaginar que
Jesús estaría allí solo y perdido. Al llegar lo
buscamos por todas partes y por fin al tercer
día lo vimos en el templo conversando con los
doctores de la Ley. Los que se encontraban a
su alrededor escuchándolo estaban admirados
por su inteligencia y la sabiduría con que respondía las preguntas que le hacían.
María dijo: Yo me alegré de volver a verlo y
corrí hacia él y le dije: (Muestre la escena Jesús
con su madre en el templo) Hijo, ¿por qué nos
has hecho esto? Él respondió: ¿no sabíais que
en los negocios de mi Padre me es necesario
estar? Jesús no estaba triste ni asustado, estaba
aprovechando el tiempo en el templo.
Aplicación
Tome un tiempo para que los niños hablen
acerca del trabajo que sus padres hacen, cuál
es su oficio o profesión, dónde trabajan, si estudiaron para poder desempeñar ese trabajo…
Luego comente que la mayoría de personas
que viven o se han criado con sus padres, conocen cuál es su trabajo, sus gustos, lo que les
molesta... Jesús también sabía mucho acerca
de Dios, porque tenía la seguridad que Él era
su Padre. Por eso disfrutaba su permanencia
en el templo, o sea, en la casa de “su Padre”,
se interesaba en participar en las fiestas que
ordenaba, en conocer y memorizar las Escrituras que hablaban de Él. Si tienes a Jesús en

Lea el versículo directamente de la Biblia, repítalo con los alumnos varias veces, organice a
los niños en tres grupos. Muchas veces a los más pequeños se les dificulta decir “Jehová”, si
lo considera adecuado puede cambiar esa palabra por “Dios” o “Señor.
Haga una competencia entre los grupos para ver quién lo aprende primero.
tu corazón debes tener la certeza que Él es “tu
Padre”, por lo tanto, debes actuar como tal.
Preocúpate por aprender de Él a través de su
Palabra, participa en el servicio y en las actividades del templo, obedécelo y encuentra cuál
es su voluntad para ti. Diríjalos en oración
para agradecer al Señor, —por ser nuestro Padre celestial.

Ministre la vida de los niños que sus padres
no cumplen adecuadamente su función o que
han sido abandonados. Dígales que aunque
no tengan un padre en la tierra Dios está ahí
para ellos y que lo abracen como el único Padre que nunca los defraudará.
Dinámica de repaso
Formule las preguntas para el repaso. Escríbalas en siluetas de cartulina en forma de templo. Esconda las mismas en el patio o cualquier otro lugar fuera del aula. Pida a los niños
que busquen una silueta y la mantengan en la
mano. Regresen al salón, y lea en voz alta la
pregunta de cada uno de los niños para que
la responda.
Ejemplos de preguntas.
1. ¿A dónde fueron Jesús y sus padres? A Jerusalén.
2. ¿Cuál fue el motivo del viaje? Celebrar la
pascua.
3. ¿Por qué María y José se preocuparon? Porque no sabían dónde estaba Jesús.
4. ¿Dónde encontraron a Jesús? En el templo.
Trabajo en el libro
Mensajeros alumno
Muestre el nuevo ejemplar del libro Mensajeros alumno, distribúyalo entre los niños y
anote sus nombres en estos para que sean propietarios del mismo. Tenga algunos libros sin
marcar para las visitas. No saque fotocopias,
porque no es correcto, además esto contribuye
a que el niño aprecia más el libro. Explique
la actividad que van a realizar y monitoree su
trabajo.
Trabajo opcional
Necesitará esponjas que crecen en cápsulas o
en forma de figuritas. Que le añadan agua y
observen cómo aumentan su tamaño. Comente que Jesús fue pequeño como ustedes,
pero creció en conocimiento y tamaño. Cuando tenía doce años sabía muy bien que Dios
era su Padre. Ustedes aún son pequeños y necesitan desarrollarse físicamente, pero también
deben crecer en conocimiento, sobre todo en
lo que se refiere a Dios. Escuchar, estudiar y
conocer la Biblia hará que cada día aprendan más del Padre celestial. Algo importante
Clausura
Aproveche la oportunidad de compartir una
merienda saludable con los niños, despídalos
en oración. Anímelos para no faltar durante
todo el semestre de estudios bíblicos.

Adicional al libro Mensajeros maestro deberá
tener el Libro de Figuras que contiene veintiséis escenas, una para cada uno de los estudios.
Con anticipación desprenda la que corresponda y estúdiela para apoyar su exposición.

It was the first time He participated. He had
learned the meaning of this feast when He
studied the Scriptures and knew the passages
related to it by heart, and that is why He was
excited about the trip. He excitedly prepared
His bags for the seven days we would be in
Jerusalem. He did not stop asking me when
we would leave. I remember that you told
Him, ‘Calm down Jesus, there are only a few
days left’, and when we told Him it was time
to leave He jumped for joy. We traveled with
other pilgrims and when we arrived, Jesus was
surprised by the amount of travelers that had
come from other places to participate in this
special celebration”, Mary said. “During the
festival, Jesus paid attention to everything that
was done, because He had the desire to learn.
The most unforgettable thing was when the
feast was over. The departure of the pilgrims
upon finishing the festivities was as tumultuous as the arrival. Because the caravans and
the pilgrims left at the same time, the paths
were congested. We had left with a group
returning to Nazareth and we thought that
Jesus was with us, but after a day of walking
we noticed that He was not anywhere to be
found. We asked all our family and friends,
‘Have you seen Jesus?’ But no one knew what
to say about Him.
“Of course”, said Joseph, “I Immediately
thought that we should return to Jerusalem
and I was afraid as I imagined that Jesus could
be lost and alone there. When we arrived, we
looked for Him everywhere and finally, on
the third day, we found Him in the temple
talking with the teachers of the Law. Those
around Him were amazed by His intelligence
and the wisdom with which He responded to
the questions they asked. Mary said, “I was
overjoyed when I saw Him and I ran towards
Him and said: (Show the scene of Jesus with His
mother in the temple) ‘Son, why have you done
this to us? Your father and I have been searching desperately for You everywhere’. ‘Why
have you been looking for me? Did you not
know that I should be in my Father’s house?’
He replied. Jesus was not sad or scared, he was
enjoying His time in the temple.
Application
Take a moment for the children to talk about
the type of work their parents do, where they
work, and if they went to college to do this
job…
Then, tell them that the majority of people
live with or have been raised by their parents,
they know what their job is, what they like,
what bothers them, etc… Jesus also knew a lot
about His Father. For this reason, He enjoyed
being in the temple, better said, in His “Father’s house”; He was especially interested in
the festivals that He ordained, and memorizing Scriptures that spoke of Him. If you have
Jesus in your heart you should be certain that

Read the verse directly from the Bible, repeat it with the children several times, and organize the children into three groups. Have a competition between the groups to see who can
learn the verse first.
He is your Father, so you should act as such.
Concern yourself with learning about Him
through His Word, participate in the service
and in the activities of the temple, obey Him,
and find out what His will is for your life. Direct the children in a prayer to thank the Lord
for being our heavenly Father.
Dynamic review
Form the questions for the review. Write them
on pictures of temples cut out of poster board.
Hide these outside or any place outside of the
classroom. Ask the children to look for them
and hold it in their hand. They will then
return to class, and each child will read the
question out loud and then answer it.
Example of questions.
1. Where did Jesus and His parents go? To Jerusalem.
2. What was the purpose of the trip? To celebrate the Passover.
3. Why were Mary and Joseph worried? Because they did not know where Jesus was.
4. Where did they find Jesus? In the temple.
Exercises in the Messengers
student workbook
Show them the new Messengers Student
workbook, hand them out to the children,
and write their names on them so that they
know the books belong to them. Keep a few
extra books for visitors. Do not make copies,
because that is not right; this also helps the
child appreciated the book more. Explain the
activity they are going to do and supervise
their work.
Optional work
You will need sponges that grow in capsules
or in shapes of figures. The kinds that you
place in water and watch it grow. Talk about
how Jesus was small just like the children, but
He grew in knowledge and size. When He
was twelve years old, He knew very well that
God was His Father, because He had grown in
size and knowledge. You all are still small and
need to develop physically, but you should
also grow in knowledge, but above all in what
involves God. Hearing, studying, and knowing the Bible will help you learn more from
the heavenly Father. It is important to learn
that He never abandons us and He is always
with us.

Minister to the children whose parents do not
fulfill their function, or those who have been
neglected. Tell them that although they may
not have a father here on earth, God is there
for them and embraces them as their only Father, who never leaves them.

Closing
Seize the opportunity to share a healthy snack
with the children and dismiss them in prayer.
Encourage them not to miss any classes during the whole semester of Bible studies.
Visual aids
In addition to the Messengers teacher book,
you should have the Book of Figures, which
contains twenty six scenes, one for each of the
studies. Detach the scene that corresponds to
the lesson ahead of time and study it to add to
your presentation.
