Bogdan Brzys Dear friends from Santiago de Compostela, This is the last Sunday I spend among you. I thank God for you, for the chance to meet you and your amazing parish-family, who became my family for the last five weeks. I would like to thank Fr. Thomas and Fr. Gregory for welcoming me and for their great witness of life completely dedicated to God and to the ministry of the Church. I’m grateful to all of you who devoted your precious time to the conversations with me or who permitted me to discover your beautiful country and its culture. Thanks to this I could not only improve my English, but also to know you better. I will never forget in my prayer all the good I got from you. I wish you a fruitful end of Lent and the joy which comes from the Resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ. God bless you and your families. Fr. Bogdan Fifth Sunday of Lent Senior Activities Seniors meet on the third Tuesday of the month (usually) for lunch and fellowship. All seniors (55 and over) are welcome. Vote ’NO’ on Assisted Suicide A new bill has been introduced into the California Senate—SB 128--called “The End of Life Option Act.” It is being heavily promoted by the Hemlock Society (which has renamed itself Compassion and Choices). The objective of the proponents is to try to pass legislation permitting physician-assisted suicide this year, but failing that, to forward a Voter Initiative to the public in 2016. This would make California the fourth state permitting physician-assisted suicide without approval by a court. Bishop Vann is asking for your help. Would you please seriously consider working against this legislation by contacting your state senators and legislators. Would you please go to the California Conference Website: www.cacatholic.org, click on the red icon which says, “Urge a ‘No’ Vote on Assisted Suicide” and simply follow the prompts. Let us pray and work together to help our culture understand the tragedy and danger this legislation presents to the vulnerable populations living within it. March 22, 2015 Field Trip; Are You Interested? We are thinking about arranging another trip to the new Christ Cathedral property, with emphasis on property as the Cathedral itself is closed to the public while renovations are under way. However, there is still much to see. Visit the renovated art gallery, currently functioning as a Catholic Church and home to the St Callistus Parish. Visit the Diocese office building, also the home of the Cathedral Catholic School and IPM class rooms. Take a short walk to the Freed theater and a pictorial history of Reverend Robert Schuler’s development of the Crystal Cathedral, and much more. Our Docent will be Tom Haas. Tentative date set for Thursday, April 23, leaving Santiago at 12pm. Please call Carolina at the Parish Office at 949-951-8599 and let her know of your interest. Be prepared to leave you name and phone number. With enough interest, we will make it happen! St. Vincent de Paul Second Collection March 28 and 29 Next weekend, there will be a second collection for Santiago’s St. Vincent de Paul ministry. 100% of your generous donations help our parishioners and their families in financial need, within the church’s boundaries. Since September, 2014, we have helped 25 of our parish families in crisis with rental and utility assistance, and the need is great and continues to grow. Thank you for your generous support in the past. We cannot operate without you. Cub Scouts Pack 651 We meet at Santiago de Compostela Church. All boys K-4th grades are welcome to join the Cub Scouts.
