THANKS!
On behalf of the ministries of the Diocese of Rockford and the St. Rita Stewardship Committee, we would like to thank those people
who have made a commitment with the annual Stewardship campaign. May God reward your generosity with abundance. If you
were not in church last week or if for any reason you have not yet made your commitment to help (DSP), please take an envelope
from the church entrance, fill it out and place it in the collection basket, or send it by mail to the Diocese. Each parish has a goal to
reach and if we don´t reach that goal, the difference becomes a debt for the parish.
We also have to remember that this contribution is different from our regular collection. Sunday collections are destined to pay for
parish expenses, including bills (which are many), employees, services, children and youth materials, retreats, speakers, etc. These
are two different commitments, but both are very necessary. If any of your relatives didn’t come to church this past weekend, please
remind him/her of the importance of making this commitment, which is fulfilled throughout the year. The Diocese will send an
envelope to your house every month until your pledge is fulfilled. May God reward all of you for your generosity. The sustenance of
our parish and the ministries in our Diocese is everyone’s commitment.
HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY
A big hug for our mothers who with their selfless love and total devotion become the warmth of the home. Thank you for your
work, which most times goes by unnoticed by their children and/or husband; thank you for the mothers who are care to instill the
love of God in their children and also the love to others. May our most blessed Virgin Mary fill you with blessings and bestows on
you the patience and the strength to keep your children on the right path.
Build Your Bible: A new app where teenagers can learn about the Bible
Every day I try to read news from the Vatican and I found this one which is very interesting and may help parents with their children’s spiritual education. This article was taken from the Rome Reports.
“The Bible is the most influential book in history and century after century it remains a best seller. But teachings teenagers about
the Bible isn't always easy. Over the years it has become a growing challenge for parents, teachers and catechists.
Now there's a digital game to make it all easier for the youth to get involved and learn about the Bible.

‘Games are actually a form of communication. If you think about it, a lot of the things we learned as a kid, came through
games.’
That's where this app comes in. It's called 'Build your Bible.' Users are asked a series of questions about the Bible. The more correct answers, the more Bible books that can be added to one's account.

‘Nowadays, our youths don't have a relationship with the Sacred Scriptures. Over 40 percent of youngsters don't read the Bible and
have never even read a Biblical text. They're not interested and they find it irrelevant in their lives.’
So to change that, this app was developed for pre-teens and teens. It was developed by the American Bible Society and the Ramon
Pané Foundation. The mission is clear:

from happening is by developing these type of apps and games that will lead teenagers to the Word of God.’
The app, Build Your Bible, is available in English and Spanish and it's completely free.”

Mensaje Pastoral
¡MUCHAS GRACIAS!
En nombre de los ministerios de nuestra Diócesis de Rockford y el comité de Corresponsabilidad de Santa Rita queremos agradecer a las
personas que se han comprometido con la Campaña Anual de Stewardship o de la Corresponsabilidad. Dios pague con abundancia su generosidad. Si tú no estuviste la semana pasada en la misa o por alguna razón no has hecho tu compromiso de ayuda (DSP,
por sus siglas en inglés) por favor tomar un sobre a la entrada de la iglesia, llenarlo y colocarlo en la canasta de la colecta regular o enviarlo por correo a la Diócesis. Cada parroquia tiene una meta que cumplir y si no alcanzamos esa meta, el faltante se convierte en una
deuda para la parroquia.
También hay que recordar que esta ayuda es diferente a nuestra colecta regular. La colecta de cada domingo está destinada para el sostenimiento propio de la parroquia, pagar los recibos por servicios (que son muchos), empleados, servicios, materiales para niños y jóvenes,
retiros, oradores, etc. Son dos compromisos diferentes pero necesarios a la vez. Si algún familiar tuyo no asistió a la misa el fin de semana pasado, por favor recuérdale de la necesidad de hacer ese compromiso, el cual se va pagando durante el transcurso del año. La Diócesis enviará a tu casa un sobre mensualmente hasta cumplir con tu promesa. Dios pague a todos por su generosidad. El sostenimiento de
nuestra parroquia y los ministerios de nuestra Diócesis es un compromiso de todos.
FELIZ DIA DE LAS MADRES
Un abrazo enorme para nuestras madres que con su amor abnegado y entrega total se convierten en el calor de hogar. Gracias por su
trabajo que la mayor de las veces pasa inadvertido para sus hijos y/o el esposo; gracias por las madres que se preocupan de inculcar la fe
en sus hijos y el amor hacia los demás. Que nuestra Madre Santísima, la Virgen María, las colme de bendiciones y les de la paciencia y la
fortaleza necesaria para mantener a sus hijos por el buen camino.
Construya su Biblia: una nueva app en la que los adolescentes pueden aprender sobre la Biblia
Procuro cada día revisar las noticias del Vaticano y encontré esta que es muy interesante y puede ayudar a los padres de familia en la
educación espiritual de sus hijos. Este artículo está tomado de “Rome Reports”.
“La Biblia es el libro con más influencia en la historia y siglo tras siglo continúa siendo uno de los más vendidos. Pero enseñar a los adolescentes sobre la Biblia no siempre es fácil. Con el paso de los años se ha convertido en un reto creciente para padres, maestros y catequistas.
Ahora existe un juego digital para facilitar que los jóvenes se involucren y aprendan sobre la Biblia.
“Los juegos son de hecho una forma de comunicación. Si lo piensa, muchas de las cosas que aprendimos de niños fueron mediante juegos”, dijo Ricardo Grzona, presidente de la Fundación Ramón Pané.
Es aquí donde entra la aplicación o app. Se llama ‘Build your Bible’ o ‘Construye tu Biblia’. A los usuarios se les hacen una serie de peguntas sobre la Biblia. Entre más respuestas correctas tenga, se agregan más libros de la Biblia a la cuenta de cada persona.
“Actualmente nuestros jóvenes no tienen una relación con las Sagradas Escrituras. Más del 40 por ciento de los jóvenes no leen la Biblia
y nunca han siquiera leído un texto bíblico. Ellos no están interesados y no encuentran que tenga relevancia en sus vidas”, dijo Mario J.
Paredes, director del Departamento de Ministerios Católicos de la Sociedad Americana de la Biblia.
Para cambiar esto, la aplicación fue desarrollada para preadolescentes y adolescentes. Fue desarrollada por la Sociedad Americana de la
Biblia y la Fundación Ramón Pané. La misión es clara:
“Simplemente no podemos darnos el lujo de que nuestros jóvenes desechen la cultura y las enseñanzas de la Biblia. Una forma de prevenir que esto suceda es desarrollando este tipo de aplicaciones y juegos que llevarán a los jóvenes a la palabra de Dios”, dijo Mario J. Paredes.
La aplicación, disponible en inglés y español, es completamente gratis.
