From August 11-13, the population of Tokushima city quadruples to over a million and the main streets downtown are closed off to traffic to make space for the Awa-Odori Dance Festival. The Matsushige-town International Association (Matsushige is located 10 minutes North of Tokushima City) has organized a homestay program to allow people from outside Tokushima to experience Awa-Odori. It will be a very fun and exciting program. Here is the schedule: August 11 (Tue.) 16:00 Meet at the Matsushige Town Office to meet homestay families/Awa Odori/Homestay August 12 (Wed.) Sightseeing around Tokushima Homestay August 13 ( Thu. ) 13:00 Farewell send off This program is for up to 10 current and former JET participants or foreign exchange students who are willing to make their own way to Tokushima and can participate in the program as described above. Upon arrival in Tokushima, the host families will take care of you until departure.
