In co‐operation with the Cologne Forum for Media Law The work schedule envisaged by the European Commission includes developing a Digital Single Market. What is possible in the physical world is also to be realised in the digital sphere. This is the only way to productively utilise the treasures of European works and content to the benefit of authors, rights holders and rights users. Which in turn addresses the issue of copyright law as a key control mechanism. It will be necessary to reduce the present patchwork of differing national laws and swiftly increase harmonised regulations on a European scale. German lawmakers are also discussing a copyright law reform, with regulatory proposals expected before the end of this year.
