Haroon Mirza & Factory Floor Performance
11 pm, duration: approx. one hour
Live Set by Haroon Mirza and Factory Floor, 2015
Haroon Mirza’s kinetic sculptures, performances and immersive installations test the interplay and friction between
sound and light waves, and electric current. An advocate of interference (in the sense of electro-acoustic or radio
disruption), he creates situations that purposefully “cross wires.” Processes are left exposed and sounds occupy space
in an unruly way, testing codes of conduct and charging the atmosphere.
Mirza describes his role as a composer, manipulating electricity – a live, invisible and volatile phenomenon – to make
it dance to a different tune. He calls on instruments as varied as household electronics, vinyl and turntables, LEDs,
furniture, video footage and existing artworks to behave differently. For this special performance, Mirza will
collaborate with London-based band Factory Floor on a live set.

Sebastian Matthias
maneuvers / groove space (dance/performance)
The Berlin-based choreographer Sebastian Matthias works on the aesthetic-choreographic realisation of scientific
concepts. His latest project deals with the term <groove>. Matthias will explore the specific movements performed by
the citizens of Basel, incorporating them in the development process of a piece, thus making dance tangible before,
during and after a performance. Museum Tinguely is the perfect location to put these encounters to the test and to
come into contact with the <Basel groove>. The staging of «groove space» will also take place at Museum Tinguely.
