AE UPDATE OCt 2014 From the desk of Michael Cassidy are prayerfully considered at this time. Not that I would be abandoning AE, because while I have life and breath AE will always be on my heart and I will remain always ready to be of service as I can. Lord willing my Barnabas Groups would continue, likewise the writing of my memoirs, plus preaching whenever appropriate, but I would be surrendering the executive leadership of this team. A search committee has been appointed by the AESA Board and they surely do need your earnest prayers for the clear guidance of God in the spirit of Psalm 32:8. There are two or three other major appointments that need to be made to fill other vacancies. How much wisdom we need! Dear Friend and Prayer Partner of the AE Ministry, PLEASE PRAY FOR... Warm and thankful greetings to you in Christ. I can’t believe that it is a year already since I took over AESA in October 2013. The circumstances were difficult and far from ideal but I give deep thanks with all my heart for how the Lord has seen us through. You as a Prayer Partner and Donor are, after the Lord Himself, central to our thanksgivings and gratitude. Thank you so much for standing with us as we sought to help this ministry stabilise and get back on track with our engine of mission running more effectively, productively and affordably. We were in a deep hole financially this time last year, but you helped us come out to a new place of financial health and strength, even though it remains true that every single month we are dependent on you to remain afloat and to stay operative in Christian service. But now we are close to moving into a new year and a new season of PLANNING, backed by your prayers and generosity, for a new chapter in the AESA Ministry. My good friend Ted Engstrom used to say, “Fail to plan and you plan to fail.” Effective PLANNING and goal setting are vital. They of course require evaluation of the past, both its successes and its failures, and bringing these lessons under God into the future plans we must make. This also requires looking with courageous and creative critique at our current activities and deciding whether they are the Tasks of Yesterday or the Tasks of Tomorrow which we must launch out on Today. Will you therefore pray with us and keep financially supporting us as we embark on fresh planning for AE’s way ahead? Pray especially for our team PLANNING Conference on November 18th and 19th. Now here are some of the AESA PLANNING items for your special prayers. In this regard we are holding onto the promise found in Proverbs 16:3: “Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and he will establish your PLANS.” >Guidance re. new SA Team Leader. >Underberg Community Mission (16-19 Oct.) >Weekend-Whirl Howick Mission (24-26 Oct.) >AE International Board Meetings (6-9 Nov.) >AESA Team Planning Conference (18-19 Nov.) >AE Prayer Partners’ Conference (22 Nov.) 2. Upcoming missions: It is so important that we are guided carefully and PLAN well for these. We have quite an assortment of varied invitations and need to know what to do when. Thus in the book of Acts there were some places the Apostles were meant to go and other places where the Lord blocked them. For example, “They attempted to go into Bithynia, but the Spirit of Jesus did not allow them” (Acts 6:7 c.f. Acts 16:6). The right place for them, as revealed to them in a dream, was Macedonia (see Acts 16:10). Likewise, we need to know from the Lord where to go and how to PLAN for God-guided missions. If you would like to plan a mission in your area, please contact Anne Pakiry: [email protected] or 033 347 7022 for more information. 3. New Foxfire Teams: Julian Yon and Danica Naidoo are caught up now in selecting the new teams and PLANNING for where they go. Please pray for them. 4. AE Centre: We need very clear guidance and terrifically good PLANNING about the future of the AESA Centre and its programmes. The potential of that place is huge. Pray for Centre Director, Gary Almeida, as he plans for next year. 5. Barnabas Groups: Pray as we PLAN for next year. Well, that’s it for now. And talking of planning, won’t YOU PLAN to pray more earnestly and give even more generously to this ministry than you have ever done before. 1. A new South African Team Leader: It is obviously not Warmly in the love of Christ, appropriate that I continue in this role indefinitely and it is wise to begin PLANNING and praying about the right person Michael, Carol and the Team to succeed me. It is vital that the long-term interests of AE MEREBANK MISSION (22-29 SEPTEMBER) Report by Stephen Lungu “We were invited by the Evangelical Bible Church to lead a week-long mission to Merebank, Durban. The Mission started on a Monday evening in a big tent pitched in front of the church. It reminded me of the tent in which I was brought to salvation myself! After this meeting over thirty people came forward for prayer. One lady said, ‘I was really touched by your message tonight and I dedicated my life to the Lord.’ An elder in the church said, ‘Tonight the Lord has shown me where I have been stuck for many years, and where I have been failing in my marriage.’ On Tuesday night Mpumi, one of the Foxfires, shared a moving testimony. That night she really elevated Jesus high. Other highlights were an event for the ladies where my wife Rachel shared her testimony and Pearl Pillay preached, and a breakfast where the men got together and I spoke on leadership. Overport Mini-Mission Nompumelelo Mbeje (Foxfire) reports: “We were invited by Christ Church to take part in a five day mission to Overport (10-14 Sept). Stephen Lungu and the Foxfire Team worked together to share the Gospel Message through preaching, dance, drama and testimony. Members of the congregation worked alongside the team and spent a lot of time praying for the mission too. “One young man we met said that he had been following Christ but when he was with his family and friends he slipped back to his old lifestyle which involved getting drunk all the time. He made the decision to rededicate his life to Christ on the first night of the mission. Please pray for this young man as he determines in his heart to overcome, with the help of Christ, the circumstances that influence him negatively. Over the course of the five days twentyfour other people rededicated their lives to Christ.” New AE Ministry Associates Growing AE family AESA welcomes a new member to the family: Baby Grace pictured here with proud parents, Gary (Centre Director) and Susan Almeida.
