Mrs. Hernandez, along with Mr. Sanchez and Mrs. Jones, started the school in 1999. She says she is very thankful for the opportunity to have helped develop Hallmark and see what a wonderful school it has become. Before coming to Hallmark, Mrs. Hernandez worked for twenty years as an insurance agent at Vermillion and Associates. During that time she also started her family with her husband Joshua Hernandez and daughters Hannah and Rebekah. She now looks forward to spending more time with her family, extended family, and grand daughter Olivia. Mrs. Hernandez wants to spend time gardening and just being at home. One project she would like to work on is the creation in her home of an activity center where children could come and work on homework, projects, and gardening, in a safe environment. She also says, “Now I will have time to learn to make tamales like my mom’s!” One of Mrs. Hernandez’s favorite memories is that of Hallmark’s first graduation. It was held in the cafeteria at the former WAMS, now Sanger Academy. On the stage were eight seniors and twelve eighth graders! The parents and friends were served a Costco cake by Hallmark teachers and the superintendent and school board were in attendance. Hallmark has certainly come a long way. Mrs. Hernandez desires that the Hallmark tradition carry on, that is , everyone working together as a unit with diligence. From a one room office with three people, to a California Distinguished School, Margaret Hernandez has played an integral part in the Hallmark tradition. So we say, with gratitude, thank you Mrs. H. We wish for you much happiness on this next stage of your life’s journey. Message from the Director Students and Parents, this is a reminder: During the three week break, some students may enjoy the time off, but some of you need to take advantage of the time to catch up with your work and raise your grades. Thank you to those who are working hard and getting good grades. I will thank the rest of you after your grades come up. She is working with students from grades 2 through high school. The projects are inspiring and the students are loving the time to express their artistic side. Projects have included a Lines & Patterns concept implemented by a henna designs activity using Sharpies with a water color wash, perspective art drawings, graphic art design lesson by students creating an autobiographical magazine cover, charcoal drawings emphasizing value through Still Life drawings or Abstract Art using geometric shapes, and toothpick sculptures that convey movement and repetition. The projects are beautiful and are now displayed on the walls at Hallmark in Prunedale. Come by and see what our students have done! The FAFSA is the first step in the financial aid process. It is used to apply for federal aid, such as grants, student loans, and work-study. Even if you don’t think you are eligible for financial aid, you should still fill it out because many states and schools also use it to award non-federal aid and scholarships. Go to www.fafsa.ed.gov Window-Jan 1 to Mar 2, 2015 Students will need the following: social security number, driver’s license number (if you have one), if you were not born in California when did you move here (month and year), and if you worked a copy of your W2 and tax returns if you filed.
