ELECTIONS NOTICE
Delegates to the 2015 IEA-NEA
Representative Assembly
ach IEA-NEA region will be allotted delegates on a
formula of one delegate per 100 members. In
addition to regional delegates, each region will be
allotted an additional delegate position, which has been
designated a regional ethnic-minority representative,
who is pledged to represent ethnic-minority members
within the region and will be elected region wide.
Elections for regional delegates and the regional
ethnic-minority delegates will take place between Nov.
26 and Dec. 15, 2014. Check the following listing to find
out the specifics of your region’s election. In the event
of an emergency school closing, the election will be
conducted on the next day that school is in session.

ELECTION NOTICE FOR NEA DIRECTORS
The following offices will be filled by election at the
2015 IEA-NEA Representative Assembly (RA): 2 NEA
Directors from Illinois. One NEA Director position will be
for a regular 3-year term to begin 9/1/2015. The other
NEA Director position will be for the remainder of the
term to expire 8/31/2015 as well as the full subsequent
3-year term beginning on 9/1/2015. This situation exists
because of the retirement of a seated NEA Director.
The RA will be held at the Hyatt Regency O’Hare, 9300
Bryn Mawr, Rosemont, IL on April 16-18. The deadline
for nominations for these positions is Jan. 1. Any member in good standing may be a candidate for office and
may be nominated by any member in good standing.
The election for these offices will take place from 7-8:45
a.m. on April 18.

IEA-NEA Elections Committee www.ieanea.org/about/
elections .
PROPOSED Bylaw Amendments for 2015 IEA RA
Proposed bylaw amendments must be received by the IEA Bylaws and
Resolutions Committee, in care of the President’s Office, Illinois Education
Association, 100 E. Edwards, Springfield, IL 62704-1999, no later than 5 p.m.
Central Standard Time, Dec. 12. This will enable the Bylaws and Resolutions
Committee to prepare the proposed bylaw amendments for presentation to
the executive committee and posted on the association website. Proposed
bylaw amendments submitted after this deadline will not be posted on the
website, and, therefore, will need a three-fourths vote for passage at the
Representative Assembly. Forms are being sent to the board of directors in
September and also will be available from the Springfield legal services office
at headquarters. The IEA bylaws can be found in the “About” section of the IEA
website, www.ieanea.org.
The Bylaws and Resolutions Committee has recently revised the model local
bylaws as guidance to help locals revise their current bylaws. The guidance
includes a narrated PowerPoint presentation. In addition, we have model
region bylaws to assist the regions. These resources can also be found under
Bylaws, Values and Vision in the “About” section of the IEA website.
