The Secretary of State for Transport makes the following Order in exercise of the powers
conferred by sections 1(1), 2(1) and (2) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984(a):
1. This Order may be cited as the A585 Trunk Road (Amounderness Way) (Prohibition of U
Turns) Order 2014, and shall come into force on 1st January 2015.
2. In this Order,
“the trunk road” means the A585 Trunk Road; and
“central reservation” means that part of a trunk road which separates the carriageway to be
used by vehicles travelling in one direction from the carriageway used by vehicles travelling
in the opposite direction.
3. Subject as mentioned in Article 5 of this Order, no person shall cause or permit any motor
vehicle proceeding northbound or southbound in the trunk road, to make a U turn through the gap
in the central reservation opposite its junction with Bourne Way.
4. Subject as mentioned in Article 5 of this Order, no person shall cause or permit any motor
vehicle proceeding northbound or southbound in the trunk road, to make a U turn through the gap
in the central reservation opposite its junction with West Drive.
5. Nothing in Articles 3 and 4 of this Order shall apply to any vehicle being used for emergency
purposes by the police, fire and rescue or ambulance services.

EXPLANATORY NOTE
(This note is not part of the Order)
This Order has the effect of prohibiting vehicles on the northbound and southbound carriageways
of A585 trunk road from making U turns through the gaps in the central reservation opposite its
junctions with West Drive and Bourne Way.
