Client Information: The information in this installation instruction is intended for use only by skilled technicians who have the proper tools, equipment, and training to correctly and safely add equipment to your vehicle. These procedures should not be attempted by “do-it-yourselfers.” Remove the trunk panel. TRUNK PANEL TRUNK LID NOTE: • Take care not to damage the paint finish. • This kit should be installed only if the ambient air temperature is 15°C (60°F) or above. • To allow the adhesive to cure, do not wash the vehicle for 24 hours. Please advise the client. 1. Open the trunk lid. Remove the two clips from the trunk hinge trim. QC02803AC 9 CLIPS TRUNK LID CLIP CLIP 3. Close the trunk lid. Place template A on the trunk lid, and align it with the center of the emblem and character line of the trunk lid. Tape template A to the trunk lid with masking tapes. Align with the character line. Align with the center of the emblem. Align with the character line. Set a center punch to the minimum power setting, and mark the trunk lid through the hole in template A. Remove template A. 6. Place template B on the trunk lid, insert the six tabs and align it with the left edge of the trunk lid. Tape template B to the trunk lid with two pieces of masking tape. While wearing eye protection, use a 7 mm Rotabroach bit to drill the trunk lid at the centerpunched mark. 7 mm ROTABROACH BIT 12. Using isopropyl alcohol on a shop towel, thoroughly clean the trunk lid where the trunk spoiler will attach. DRILL TRUNK LID SHOP TOWEL Clean with an isopropyl alcohol. TRUNK LID 13. Install the special bolt and two clips on the trunk spoiler as shown. MARK 10. While wearing eye protection, use a 8.5 mm Rotabroach bit to drill the trunk lid at the centerpunched mark. 8.5 mm ROTABROACH BIT QC02901AC TRUNK SPOILER 2 CLIPS CLIP (Align with the marks on the trunk spoiler.) DRILL MARK TOP VIEW TRUNK SPOILER MARK SPECIAL BOLT (Align with the marks on the trunk spoiler.) MARK MARK TRUNK LID 11. Apply touch-up paint to the edge of the holes. Partially peel back the 12 adhesive backings, and tape them to the front surface of the trunk spoiler with masking tape. Completely remove the remaining adhesive backing. 12 ADHESIVE BACKINGS (Peel.) MASKING TAPE 16. Push the trunk spoiler towards the front of the vehicle as shown, to align the bolts and clips in the correct position. TRUNK SPOILER TRUNK LID ADHESIVE BACKING (Remove.) TRUNK SPOILER (Push towards front of vehicle) QC02903DC 15. Install the trunk spoiler onto the trunk lid. Insert the special bolt into the hole on the trunk lid first, then insert the two clips. CLIP SPECIAL BOLT TRUNK SPOILER QD21202CG 17. Adjust the position of the trunk spoiler so there is equal spacing on both sides. BII 51412 (1407) QC02910DC 5 of 9 18. While applying light pressure on the trunk spoiler, carefully remove the adhesive backings. 21. Open the trunk lid. Secure the trunk spoiler to the trunk lid with 6 mm flange nut. Torque the flange nut to 9.0 N·m (0.9 kgf·m, 6.6 lbf·ft). TRUNK LID 12 ADHESIVE BACKINGS (Remove.) TRUNK SPOILER TRUNK LID QC02911DC 20. Using a rubber roller, apply firm pressure, especially at the ends, to set the adhesive. 22. Pull back the weatherstrip, and remove the six clips from the trunk upper trim panel. WEATHERSTRIP (Pull away.) TRUNK LID RUBBER ROLLER QC02912AC 6 CLIPS 6 of 9 QC02913AC 6 mm FLANGE NUT 9.0 N·m (0.9 kgf·m, 6.6 lbf·ft) 19. Firmly press the trunk spoiler against the trunk lid. Pull down the trunk upper trim panel. Push the tab, then pull down the right seat-back release lever to release the hook. Release the left seat-back release lever the same way. VEHICLE PANEL 24. Remove the vehicle right trunk spring from the center clip. CENTER CLIP HOOK VEHICLE RIGHT TRUNK SPRING Push. LEVER TAB LEFT SEAT-BACK RELEASE LEVER TRUNK UPPER TRIM PANEL (Pull down.) CENTER CLIP QC02915AC RIGHT SEAT-BACK RELEASE LEVER 25. Pull back the right and left trunk side trim panels. With an assistant holding the trunk lid open, remove the old right trunk spring from the slider using the trunk spring tool. Wear heavy gloves to protect your hands, and push the trunk spring tool slowly and carefully. OLD RIGHT TRUNK SPRING SLIDER 27. Install the new right trunk spring in the reverse order of removal. Wear heavy gloves to protect your hands • Install the red-marked trunk spring in the slot in the left (driver’s side) hinge bracket and in the right (passenger’s side) hinge arm. • Rotate the trunk spring tool as you pull it towards you. NOTICE: Be careful when installing the trunk spring as it could repel with strong force and cause injury. NEW RIGHT TRUNK SPRING HINGE BRACKET HINGE BRACKET TRUNK SPRING TOOL • QC03103AC HINGE BRACKET Remove the spring from the hinge bracket. NEW RIGHT TRUNK SPRING HINGE BRACKET Marked red. QC03109AC 28.
