Finals will be divided into the following age groups by sex: 13/14; 15& over. Only A finals will be swum. There will be no finals for 10 & under and 11/12 age groups. The 4 X 50 RELAY-FREE and the 4 X 50 RELAY-MEDLEY will be swum as TIMED FINALS. * Please note the 4x 100 IM Relay is a 100 IM each swimmer. ** These events will be time finals. Meet management reserves the right to limit entries to this event and/or to swim 2 per lane in the 400 Free. The 800 FREE and the 1500 FREE are open to men and women, 11 and over only and will be swum fastest to slowest. The 800 and 1500 FREE will alternate heat by heat. Meet management reserves the right to limit entry to these events (eliminate slower heats) and/or to swim 2 per lane in the 800 FREE and 1500 FREE. Meet management reserves the right to adjust session warm-up and start times if the number of entries warrant any adjustments. Eligibility/Time Standard: Swimmer’s Age: This meet is restricted to swimmers registered with Swim Ontario as “Competitive” swimmers. There is no time standard for this meet. Scratches: Coaches will be asked to complete a scratch form 30 minutes prior to the start of each session. Swimmers may scratch from preliminary events without penalty. Fees: $9.00 per individual swim $10.00 for 800/ 1500 FR $14.00 per relay Please make cheques payable to Trent Swim Club Limit: There is no limit on individual entries however; there will be a maximum of 8 individual events that will be scored towards the Age Group High Points award. Entries will be accepted on a first come first serve basis. Meet Rules: Current SNC rules will apply in addition to the following: 1. Meet management reserves the right to adjust session times. 2. Meet Management reserves the right to swim the 800 m and 1500m two per lane if entries require it. 3. Meet Management reserves the right to limit the number of entries for all events 400m and longer to 4 heats. Any swimmer declined entry to a 400m or longer event will be offered entry to an alternative event. 4. The FINA one-start rule will be in effect. 5. The FINA swimwear ruling will be in effect. 6. The meet will be operated without entry cards and with limited marshalling. Swimmers are responsible for presenting themselves at the starting end of the pool immediately prior to their heat. 7. Meet Officials will provide a safe environment and an organized competition. 8. We are not responsible for the supervision of the athletes during the competition and especially, during session breaks. Other Rules and Information: 1. 2. No food or drink is allowed on deck in the swimmers’ area. “Meet Management acknowledged the SO policy with banning the future use of split times as official times and requires that any coach wishing to rely on a time achieved by the swimmer for an interval shorter than the total distance of the event shall so advise the Referee prior to the commencement of the session (or event) in question. In such a case, Meet Management and the Referee will undertake all appropriate steps as prescribed by their training to assure the quality and integrity of interval times. Any time collected according to this request will subsequently be recorded in a separate event of the appropriate distance and stroke created for such a purpose." 3. Where, due to facility or time limitations, swimming separated by gender would not permit all swims to be completed while offering reasonable opportunities to swim for all participants, and in particular on an equitable basis for swimmers of each gender. In spite of this rule, any swimmer who achieves a record time at any level (club, regional, provincial, national, etc, whether age-group or open) will not be recognized for that record unless the coach has advised the referee prior to the start of the session in which the is to be contested that there is a possibility of the record being broken, and the referee ensures that the swimmer competes with competitors of the same 5 Trent Swim Club gender for his/her heat. In the event that mixed gender swims are permitted pursuant to this policy, the results must still be posted separately by the gender of swimmers. Entries: All entries must be in Hy-tek format and submitted via www.swimming.ca. No entries will be accepted directly by meet management. Note that your account will need to be approved by your Club Officials Chairperson before you can complete your sign-up to officiate at this meet. 2. Once you’ve signed in, mouse over the heading called “Meets” and a drop down box will appear. Click on the heading “Register for Meet”. 3. Select “Huronia” from the Region drop-down box. 4. Find the entry for the “Parkview Winter Splash” in the list of meets, then click on “Select a Session” for this meet. 5. Click on “Register” beside the session you would like to work, and then select your requested position or special requests in the provided text box (e.g.need deck evaluation). 6. Click on “Register” at the bottom of this page to complete your entry. Once the Officials’ Chair (Earl McLeod) has reviewed all the sign-ups for the meet, you will receive confirmation of your position by e-mail. If you have any difficulties please contact the Officials Chair Earl McLeod at [email protected]. 6 Trent Swim Club SWIMMING/NATATION CANADA RISK MANAGEMENT / WARM-UP PROCEDURES 2009 During the designated warm-up period, the meet management committee shall be responsible for ensuring that all Risk Management/Warm-up procedures are followed. It is incumbent on all participants, i.e. meet management, coaches, swimmers, and officials to comply with these procedures. Non-compliance with these procedures will result in a warning or removal of the swimmer from the warm-up pool, and possible further reporting to meet management and the Referee for action under rule SW 2.1.1. Meet management shall designate Safety Marshals to actively monitor the warm-up period in the competition pool and ensure compliance with these procedures. Safety Marshals should be notified of any disabled swimmers who are participating in warm-ups. Additional “practice” pools, if any, are to be supervised by lifeguards and coaches. “Safety Marshals shall be responsible to the Referee for all aspects of safety related to conduct during the warm-up period and shall ensure that all appropriate warm-up procedures are followed.” (CSW2.13.1.5) GENERAL WARM-UP RULES: Swimmers shall enter the water FEET FIRST in a cautious manner. No Running on the pool deck or Diving from the side of the pool. Meet Management shall provide signage to indicate designated lane use during warm-up. Notices/barriers shall be placed on starting blocks to prevent diving during the general warm-up. Diving Starts are only permitted in designated Sprint Lanes during the warm-up period. Lanes shall be open primarily for ‘Circle Swimming’ during the General warm-up period. Coaches and swimmers shall allow Backstrokers & PARA swimmers the ‘right of way’ for safety purposes. Meet Management may designate a Sprint Lane(s) and/or a Pace Lane(s) throughout the general warmup period. SPECIFIC/SPRINT WARM-UP PERIOD: Sprint and Pace lanes must be opened for at least the last 30 minutes of warm-ups or as designated by meet management. Outside Lanes should be designated as Sprint Lanes. Only ‘one-way’ swimming shall be permitted in Sprint Lanes. Sprint Lanes, Pace Lanes, and Circle Swimming lanes shall be clearly marked with signage. The following statement shall appear in the meet information and in posted notices: "SNC WARM UP PROCEDURES WILL BE IN EFFECT AT THIS MEET". EQUIPMENT: FLUTTER BOARDS and PULLBUOYS are allowed. HAND PADDLES and FLIPPERS (ZOOMERS) are NOT ALLOWED.
