Prayer Calendar

Even though she is over 15 years old and showing signs of aging, I'm grateful for my seasoned Honda CRV. The armrest and the rubber casing for the outside
running board are sitting on the shelf in my garage. There are a few rust spots now adding a splash of color to her silver exterior. The interior is plain and
simple...no high-tech dashboard, no GPS nor Bluetooth®, no heated seats. As a matter of fact, after a visit to the mechanic, I’m just happy now to have heat—
period!
My 15 year traveling buddy recently reached a milestone. She made it to the 100,000 mile mark. I used to get teased about having an old car with so few miles.
So, as a result, I shared this feat by taking a picture of the odometer and texting it to some of my family and friends.
Being accustomed to not having a car note, I'm hoping that I can eke out another 15 years (well, at least another 10). As long as my “silver bird” gets me through
the hottest summers and the coldest winters, I'm happy with us driving off into the sunset, one mile at a time.
Therefore we do not lose heart. Even though our outward man is perishing, yet the inward man is being renewed day by day. 2 Corinthians 4:16 (NKJV)
As I get older, I can relate to my seasoned car. My exterior does not look exactly like it did years ago, and, at times my mind moves much faster than my body.
My interior needs extra tender loving care to keep everything functioning the way it should— or close to it.
Nevertheless, I do not lose heart because, one day, I turned over the keys of my life to Jesus. It was when I asked Him to become my Lord and Savior, that I have
been able to add miles to my Christian journey.
I have to admit, there have been times when I tried to become a back seat driver. Whenever I grew impatient while waiting in life's traffic jams, or when traveling
on roads that were filled with construction, I wanted to take the wheel and make a detour. I did not want to dodge potholes; instead, I desired to travel on smooth
pavement.
However, when I reached for the wheel, Jesus simply reminded me that He is the experienced driver and that He knows and understands the route God has
mapped out for me. He reminded me that in order to be transformed, I have to go through some construction and that waiting on God would renew my strength.
Whenever I experienced those annoying potholes, He encouraged me to fill them with trust.
As we enter another year, may we have renewed faith and leave the driving up to the Lord. As God direct our paths, we can drive off into the sunset one mile at a
time.
Dear Father, thank You for promising to go the distance with us. Because of You, we never have to travel alone.
