Dear U.S. Offshore Oil & Natural Gas Industry Leader:
Since its creation in 2011, the Center for Offshore Safety (COS), has been working with industry
stakeholders to promote the highest level of safety for the U.S. offshore oil and natural gas industry
through effective leadership, communication, teamwork, utilization of disciplined management systems
and independent third-party auditing and certification. COS has been working to draw lessons learned
from successful, existing safety programs and to stimulate cooperation and sharing amongst industry
participants to enhance the collective knowledge of the industry.
COS is collaborating with the Offshore Technology Conference (OTC) in the development and delivery of
the second Safety Management System centric session at the annual OTC in Houston and will serve as a
Supporting Organization for the OTC again in 2015. As a result of this endeavor and in alignment with its
mission, COS is conducting its second annual Center for Offshore Safety Leadership Recognition Program.
The vision for this recognition program is to encourage and reward outstanding contributions to
improving safety management through leadership, communication and teamwork by industry
participants. We encourage companies with operations in the U.S. offshore oil & natural gas industry to
consider submitting a nomination and participate in recognizing our industry’s commitment to safety
management systems.
For consideration in the recognition selection process, nomination forms must be submitted to the COS by
Friday, February 13, 2015. The nomination form is enclosed. In order to create a highly valued award,
the COS will select recognition recipients utilizing a panel that resembles the nominees’ industry peers
with the COS Board serving as the final selection panel. The top three ranked nominees for each award
will be asked to present their nominations at the morning technical session and attend the recognition
ceremony at the OTC luncheon on May 7, 2015.
Should you have questions or require additional information about the COS Leadership Recognition
Program, please contact Jennifer Vaughan at (832) 495-4960 or [email protected].
We look forward to your participation in the Second Annual Center for Offshore Safety Leadership
Recognition Program.
Sincerely,
Charlie Williams
