Consider a year-end gift to the Alden Music Fund: As you plan
your year-end giving, consider a contribution in honor or memory of a
loved one to the Alden Music Fund. The fund enables special musical
programming throughout the year, including guest musicians (such as a
string quartet this Christmas Eve). Your gifts would be most
appreciated and welcomed! If you have questions, please contact
Patrick Pope in the church office.
2015 Pledges Help us shrink this slice by
as of 12/22/2014 turning in your 2015 Pledge! As
of this week, we have heard from
220 parishioners who have
pledged a combined $749,470.
We’d like to thank those who have pledged for your continued
generosity. Yet, at 88%, we still have quite a way to go to meet
our 2015 goal.
How can you help? Just fill out a pledge card that is available at all
entrances to the church and drop it in the basket. You may also mail in
your pledge or pledge online at http://www.holycomforterclt.org/pledge.php
Congratulations to our new 2015 Wardens and
Officers! Effective January 1, 2015, Mark Becker
will be our Senior Warden, Anna Smith will be
Junior Warden, Chris Ravenberg continues as
Treasurer and Neil Coghill continues in his role as
Chancellor. A Clerk will be elected at the Vestry’s
January meeting. We’d like to express our sincere
thanks to those who will be rotating off the Vestry
at the end of 2014: Senior Warden Tammy
Langley, Junior Warden Allen Amos, Clerk
Arnoldo Marquez and Vestry member Susan
Brooks.
Didn’t get what you really
wanted for Christmas?
Then
purchase
these
beautiful notecards for a
great cause! Each package
has one of 8 Holy Comforter
windows. All cards are blank
inside
and
have
a
corresponding Bible verse on
the back. The package of 8 cards is $20 and
benefits the 2015 Youth Pilgrimage Trip. Special
orders are available for sets of a single image
(such as the Nativity for Christmas cards).
Purchase them the library or email
[email protected].
Give yourself a
gift that gives
back! Not only
does our gift shop,
Comforting
Treasures, support
Holy Comforter’s
own inreach and
outreach ministries,
but the shop also supports vendors who give back
to their own communities. New oil-infused
products from Thistle Farms support a
community of women in Tennessee who have
survived prostitution, trafficking and addiction.
Bridgewater Candles contributes a portion of sales
to international orphanages, so that every candle it
sells feeds a child for one day. So shop for a good
cause!

Epiphany video series from Episcopal Migration Ministries
Next week, on January 6th, the Episcopal Church will celebrate the
Feast of the Epiphany, which begins the six-week season of Epiphany.
Epiphany recognizes the manifestation of the divine in Jesus, the Christ
and recalls the flight of the Holy Family into Egypt to escape the
tyranny of King Herod, who ordered the Massacre of the Innocents in
Bethlehem.
Mary, Joseph and baby Jesus were refugees.
The Holy Family’s experience is mirrored today in the plight of more
than 50 million displaced persons worldwide, including nearly 17
million refugees. Many are in camps in places such as Rwanda, Kenya
and Jordan, hoping that someday it will be safe enough to return to
their communities. Some, however, find that they must journey to a
new country to begin again. For 70,000 refugees in 2014, that journey
brought them to the United States.

For the first four weeks of Epiphany (Jan. 11 –
Feb. 1), Episcopal Migration Ministries is offering
free, video-based lesson plans, available at
http://tinyurl.com/pjnm79t. The journey of a
refugee is never easy. Someday these journeys may
no longer be necessary. Until that day, please join
the #ShareTheJourney campaign to work toward
safer, brighter futures for refugees.
#ShareTheJourney is an effort to educate, form
and equip Episcopalians to engage in loving
service with resettled refugees and to become
prophetic witnesses and advocates on behalf of
refugees, asylees, migrants and displaced persons
throughout the world.

resettlement on a local level, contact Allison
