Dear Parishioners and Guests,
A Blessed Christmas to each of you. Thank you for sharing in this celebration of the Incarnation of
the Son of God. Our Savior has come to save us and we rejoice in His many blessings. He brings to
us the Light that dispels the darkness. He fills our lives with Faith that leads to eternal joy. He
brings us the Hope that dispels the despair of evil in our midst. He brings us the Love that unites us
as one in Him. Many are the blessings our Savior grants to us.
During 2014 many families have lost a loved one. Their absence is especially evident at this time of
year when we focus our attention in so many ways upon the joy that our families and friends bring
to our lives. As you miss your loved ones, we stand by your side as members of God’s Holy Family
to encourage you in faith, hope, and love.
Thank you for accepting me into your parish family. Time is passing so rapidly. This is already the
7th Christmas we are celebrating together. Your kindness and support is greatly appreciated. I am
finding many blessings in being the pastor of Triumph of the Cross Parish – our parish family. Your
faith, hope, and love expressed in many forms are treasures to be appreciated.
As a family we occasionally do and say things that are misunderstood and hurtful to one another.
To those whom I have offended, “I am sorry.” Know that it is not my intention to hurt anyone. My
intention is to be pastoral but that may not always be reflected in my voice or words. Please accept
my apology.
May 2015 be filled with many blessings as we continue to seek to follow Christ and to grow in faith,
hope and love. May the joy of Christmas fill our lives. We remember each day, Emmanuel – God
is with us.
In the love of Christ,
Fr. Thomas Nau
Brothers and sisters,
As we celebrate the great feast of Christmas, I want to thank you for the good wishes, cards, and
gifts you have shared with me. I am touched by your kindness and appreciate it very much. I also
thank you for your prayers during this holy season and throughout the year. May you feel the
prayers of the Blessed Mother and St. Joseph and the peace and love of the Christ Child now and
always. Merry Christmas.
Father Greer

Help Support
the F.U.S. Arizona Mission Team
Twenty Franciscan University students have the
opportunity to share the Joy of the Gospel with students at Loretto School in Douglas, Arizona, where
half of the children cross the border daily to attend
classes run by the Carmelite Sisters of the Most
Sacred Heart of Los Angeles. The Arizona mission
team would greatly appreciate any financial and
spiritual support to help defray the cost of meals
and lodging during this Mission. Also, they will
carry your prayer intentions with them at Holy
Mass during Mission. May God bless you! Please

GIVE TO THE LORD…….YOU FAMILIES OF NATIONS Psalm 96
The Image of the Holy Family, along with their donkey lying in a big heap, depicts complete exhaustion on their Flight to Egypt, struggling against great obstacles in an effort to
protect their family, foster family life and preserve their family faith.
“The future of the world and of the Church passes through the family.” - St. John Paul II
“Not only will I say that the family is important for the evangelization of the new world,
but that the family is important… is necessary, for the survival of humanity. If there is no
family, the cultural survival of humanity is at risk. Like it or not the family is at the base” Pope Francis Interview on Radio Cathedral July 30, 2013
THE FAMILY a Sanctuary of Life and Love:
Is a central agent in evangelization, for it is here that children first learn of God, are brought to the sacraments, and are
taught the values and virtues of the Catholic faith.
Is the center of the parish and the community and the larger cultures as they live out their faith as public witnesses called
to “give reason for their hope in Christ” (1 Peter3:15)
Is a powerful witness to the beauty and necessity of God’s grace as they live out the Catholic faith with peace, patience
and joy, even amid earthy struggles like the Holy Family
BE NOT AFRAID FAMILY HOURS are much more then just a holy hour. Each Family Hour DVD beautifully combines devotion and catechism. While you are praying you are learning more about the Catechism and other spiritual topics along
with hearing inspirational messages from St. John Paul II, Blessed Teresa of Calcutta, Francis Cardinal Arinze and other
great spiritual teachers. The Church we pass on to the next generation will depend greatly on how well we address the
challenges of our faith and the FAMILY today.
