PASTORAL MESSAGES
Dear Parishioners and Staff of Corpus Christi Parish,
Dear Parishioners and Staff,
I want to share with you some very important news. First, it
has been a joy for me to have returned to the greater
Waterville area for ministry, and this time, as your pastor. I
certainly look forward to returning to be with all of you, and
to minister to you as your pastor and shepherd.
Having been through a similar situation myself years ago, I
know the great value of the prayerful support of all the
people of the parish when a priest takes this step toward
health and recovery. Please keep our pastor, Fr. Dan, in
your prayers. If any of you wish to send him a note of
support or a card, you may send it to the parish office, and
we will send him a package every week. But most
importantly, a daily prayer for your pastor will produce great
benefits for him, and for each one of us.
Before returning, it is important that I continue a period of
self-care. As I informed you a few weeks ago, Bishop
Deeley asked that I take some time for myself. During this
time, it has become clear to me that I need to participate
fully in the program offered by Guest House, a residential
program for priests and religious struggling with alcohol
addiction. My time here has already been an occasion of
grace. It is my intention to continue relying on the grace of
God to become healthy once again, so that I can return to
Corpus Christi Parish so that together, we can continue the
work that the Lord has entrusted to all of us.
Please know of my love and prayers for all of you. In
return, I trust in your support and prayers for me.
Sincerely in Christ,
Reverend Daniel Baillargeon

ON THE COVER
Art by Dustin Walker...Painting entitled Dream Journey
It is hard to believe how quickly time goes by. And now
Christmas is upon us once again. The birth of our Savior
Jesus Christ, the Son of God and Son of Mary, dwells in
our midst. As we proclaim every Sunday in the NicenoConstantinopolitan Creed, “For us
men and for our salvation, he came down from heaven,
and by the Holy Spirit was incarnate of the Virgin Mary, and
became man.” This is the great truth we celebrate, that
God loves us so much that He bridged the gap, He came
into our world, and by the
life, death and resurrection of His Son Jesus, we have
been set free of sin and given the hope of eternal life.
It is this whole mystery of Christ’s redemptive life that we
celebrate at Christmas, not just the birth of a baby in
poverty, but his life, preaching, miracles, tragic death and
glorious resurrection. The wood of the manger at his birth
will become the wood of the Cross at his death. The
swaddling clothes that comforted him as a baby will
become the linen clothes wrapped around his lifeless body,
yet left behind in the grave when he rose
from the dead.
As we reflect on this totality of the mystery of Christ, may
we be amazed once again at how God is present in our
lives. Not just in the joyous events, not just in the
successes, but also in the times of struggle, pain, loss and
sadness. God celebrates with us in times of joy, he grieves
with us in times of sorrow, and walks with us through every
defeat and triumph. Look upon the poor child in the
manger, look upon the rejected and beaten man on the
cross, look upon the one who has come out from the tomb.
There, as in every moment of our life, Christ Jesus is with
us, holding us, comforting us, loving us, leading us. Never
are we alone, for Christ has been there before us and is
with us now.
On behalf of Fr. Dan our Pastor, Fr. Dominic, and all the
Parish Staff of Corpus Christi Parish, Blessed Christmas to
all of you. As we keep you in our prayers, so we ask you to
pray for us in this season of God’s miraculous love.

Mount Merici Academy wishes you a Blessed
Christmas and a Peace-Filled New Year!
To celebrate the season and our mission of Serviam, the
students had a book drive to start a library at the
Mid-Maine Homeless Shelter and our Giving Tree
benefitted the Maine Children’s Home. As a result, 1000
books were donated to the Mid-Maine Homeless Shelter.
Our students constantly learn how to serve their
community through these projects and through their
weekly service work in the community.
Campbell Soup Labels:
We appreciate the support we receive from our parish
community and friends with the soup labels you clip for us.
