Bulletin for December 2014
The Month of Divine Infancy
Dear Parish Family,
Christmas is a time of remembrance. We have been listening to the scriptures and remembering the experience of Mary encountering the divine journey, and the struggles
of Joseph and Mary leading to the birth of Christ. Leading to the moment that has
changed our world forever.
This Christmas I recall the memories of my childhood and the celebrations that we
had as a family. They are wonderful memories and this year will be my first year without my parents. But my memories, and the traditions and the faith they have passed
on to me, continues to help me celebrate this wonderful event.
May your memories, your journey and your families, be blessed this Christmas.
Msgr. Craig Harrison

St. Francis Parish Ministry News
For our Growing Parish, Faith, Family, & Friends
We are so grateful for the support of our parishioners who
have contributed to our Capital Campaign. Our fund raising goal is $7,470,000 and currently have pledges totaling $
$3,168,000.
It is our request that every St. Francis family make a financial commitment, payable over three years, to support this
project. We hope that you will prayerfully consider this
opportunity, reflect on God’s blessings, and commit with
vigor to this essential parish project. Please use the pledge
cards and envelopes found in the pews or in the back of the
Church, and return it to the parish within two weeks.
Giving is a spiritual adventure. It is an act performed for
God and with God. As we put this into perspective, we will
know the joy that comes from making the decision to give.
When we are able to partner together to see this dream
become a reality, we can all join together in bringing the
love of Christ to a world in need.

“God created man in his own image…
male and female He created them” Gen. 1:27
Based on the collective teachings of Pope John Paul II on
human body, marriage, sex, and love, the Theology of the
Body proclaims the Church’s beautiful teaching on authentic love and the meaning of our sexuality.
Join us on this journey as we learn to appreciate the true
dignity of the human person, and untwist the lies spread by
culture that confuse lust for love, and leads people to settle
for the counterfeit love. Our ultimate longing is actually the
love that only God can give. Re-connect with the greatness
God is calling you to. Come learn about the love that satisfied; the love where you will find true and lasting happiness.
Fr. Jude Eli
Fr. Jude will be presenting the teaching of the disciples.
An introduction to the Apostolic and Patristic tradition.
This will be an introductory course on the development

“Transformation in Wisdom”
At Prayer with St. John of the Cross
With Fr. Steve Coffey, O.S.B.
Jan. 3rd through 9th 2015
St. John of the Cross was a 16th century Spanish Carmelite who
is considered one of the greatest mystics and spiritual teachers of
the Church. Father Steve Coffey will lead us in this retreat and
share with us the wisdom and spiritual passion of this great saint
and how his experience of God can lead us deeper into our own
inner longing.
This retreat is for people of all walks of life—clergy, religious, and
lay people who long for a deep personal experience of God’s love
and presence, and who feel drawn to an extended conversation
with the Lord. For more information, please call St. Anthony
Retreat at (559) 561-4595.

One of the greatest gifts we can share is the gift of music,
especially during the Christmas season. I would like to thank
all the wonderful musicians who will help us sing with the
angels this Christmas. The music will bring us to the manger
in Bethlehem and the glory of the humble birth. Thank you
for being a gift to us this Christmas and all through the year.
Spiritual Adoptions
“I can look around!”
"Thank you for praying for me. I’m 7 months old and about 15
inches long. I can use all four senses now!”
 Baby’s eyelids open and close, and the eyes look around.
 Baby can hear, taste, touch, cough, yawn, and hiccup!
 Baby can now recognize mama’s voice!
 Baby is receiving antibodies from mama to provide immunity
to a wide variety of diseases.
Prayer to Mary, Mother of the Life Within
O Mary, Mother of the Life Within, all life we entrust
to you; The life of every expectant mother and the
child within her womb: The life of every human body,
the life of every human soul; The life of every newborn
child and the life of all grown old. You held the Lord to your
own heart and drew Him so close in. So draw us now in
all our needs, O Mother of the Life Within. Amen.
