Meeting Notice
Meeting Date: Saturday November 8th, 2014
Time:
9:00 A.M.
Place:
H&H Exports

Thank you to Mark Boyce for the great demo at October’s meeting. It was very
interesting and everyone had a great time. Thanks also for supplying all the material for the
members who made baskets.
Spindles will be the topic of this meeting. Several members will be demonstrating turning
kitchen utensils and other objects using spindle turning techniques. Come to the meeting and see
the unique and simple items which can be made between centers on the lathe!!
If there is enough interest, we will have a “Sharing” session on Saturday, November
15th. If you are interested in attending, please let Robb Glibbery know as soon as possible.
Soren Berger from New Zealand will be traveling through here the last week of May.
We can have him at our club for a couple days of workshops over Memorial Day weekend, or
the days preceding or after the weekend. If you are interested in attending one of his workshops,
please let us know as soon as possible. We will be discussing this at the upcoming meeting also.
Some of our members have not paid their dues yet. Please pay them as soon as possible,
so we may keep you on our club roster and mailing list. I am once again sending a Membership
form with this letter. You may pay at the upcoming meeting or mail the check made out to Lake
Superior Woodturners to:
Paul Howard
2514 W. 15th St.
Duluth, MN. 55806
Please send as soon as possible, and fill out the form completely, so we may update the
roster!!!
Since our club is an affiliate of the AAW, we do ask that all our members belong to the
national club. We do not enforce this, but it is very beneficial to everyone to join. Besides
getting a great magazine,
the AAW also has numerous other benefits. Their website, www.woodturner.org is a great place
for tips, tool suppliers, members directory, how to videos, and many other things for the turner.
They also give grants to clubs and organizations, which is how our club bought our mini lathes
and some of the tools we have. They also have monthly and yearly raffles for tools and
equipment!! Most of our demonstrators are
also found through the AAW. We are sure that if you join, you won’t be disappointed!!
