Welcome to AICE English Language. Below you will find the required summer assignments.
Assignment #1: Rhetorical Terms Chart. Words and chart template can be found at
www.mlskinner.wordpress.com (AICE English Language Summer Assignment for 2014-2015)
You will need to recreate the chart in order to fit your information. Do not alter the order of the categories and
do not omit any categories.
Many of the rhetorical terms are not listed in traditional dictionaries as they are extremely specialized. Do not
wait until the last minute to begin this project.

a hard copy of this assignment on or before the 22nd. It is your responsibility to print the hard copy.

Writing for an Audience
Two politicians have been invited to contribute to a debate on the theme Giving Aid to the Poor Does More
Harm Than Good. Write the text of their speeches (300–450 words each). In your writing create a sense of
opposing attitudes and viewpoints. (The politicians may be real or invented.)
