Endeavour LMS: Student Guide - Help me with Turnitin®!
Q. Turnitin is not working
A. You must have Pop-ups enabled (if you are using safari you have to unclick the Block Pop-ups, for other web browsers you can add an exception
for endeavour.edu.au
Q. I uploaded my assignment, but nothing happens. There is no report.
A. The first time you upload a draft to Turnitin®, you will need to wait up to 15-30 minutes for the
assignment to be assessed (depending on the usage on the system). However, please note that
Originality reports for resubmitted assignments can take up to 24-hours to generate. Students
are able to have one Turnitin® Report generated per 24 hour period.
Q. I get an error - it doesn't like the file type.
A. Make sure you save your assignment in a proper format. All assignments are to be saved in
Microsoft Word Document format (.docx extension). You will need Microsoft Word from 2007
onwards or Open Office or equivalent. We do not accept PDF documents as your tutor needs
to mark your assignment.
Q. How do I find the Originality report? How do I interpret what it says?
A. Read the instructions on submitting your assignment to Turnitin®. It provides screenshots
and will guide you. Click on the percentage to open the report, this uses Pop-ups to open the
web page. Also using a different filename each time you want a Turnitin report helps You'll find
them on the Instructions page
Q. Oh no! The report says my assignment is over 25% similar! What does that mean?
How can that be, I’ve written everything in my own words?
A. It depends. If your assignment included the questions that everyone else in the class also
typed into their assignments, then these will be reported as “unoriginal”. Check the highlighted
text in the report. Please start your bibliography on a new page with the heading References or
Bibliography (normally the bibliography is excluded from matching).
Q. I uploaded my assignment, but my tutor says she/he didn't get it or it is still in Draft
mode?
A. After you upload your assignment and review the Turnitin® report, you still need to click on
the Submit for Marking button, to send your assignment to your tutor.
If you continue to experience problems, send an email to [email protected] and we will
endeavour to help you.
