FLATFORD MILL INVESTIGATION
On a wet Friday at the end of February, 24 intrepid year 11 geographers and their even braver teachers (Mr Donovan,
Ms Hollingbery and Ms wood) set off for Flatford Mill in Suffolk on a residential visit to start their controlled assessment
investigation. We stayed for three days and mainly split our time between getting very wet gathering data in rivers and
analysing the information in class. The trip was great fun and very productive with students discovering answers to questions such as:
- does the size of a river increase as you go downstream?
- does the velocity increase?
- does the game of 'pooh sticks' involve real poo?
- what on earth is a hydraulic radius?
- who can throw a Wellington boot furthest - nahin or shadman?
- how much noise does a 400 year old building make when you run around?
Ask any year 11 geographers to find out the answers to these questions and many more!

Firstly, I would like to congratulate Mihajlo Treskavica for being named Captain of the Under 13’s Rugby team. Mihajlo consistently attends training sessions, assists others in their development, assists
with equipment and demonstrates ideal sportsmanship qualities. Keep up the hard work!
With Mihajlo leading from the front, the squad were enthusiastic about the fixture. Brampton Manor
scored the first three tries with Landry Ane replying with a sensational individual effort to score. In
great team spirit, all the students applauded Landry’s effort. The forwards were tremendous all game,
lead by Mihajlo Treskavica, Jeanzle Albalate, James Baah, Deolinda Dos Santos and Luis Gomes
consistently laid big tackles on the opposition which was very impressive!! Brampton Manor scored
twice before Rokeby hit back with Ibrahim Khamis scoring the second try.
Half time score – Rokeby 2 & Brampton Manor 5
Rokeby started the second halve in sensational style scoring the first try thanks to Landry Ane. Brampton Manor played some tough rugby and scored the next three tries in a row. Rokeby demonstrated
great team spirit by scoring the next try, thanks to Shahroze Khalid. The try came from great team
work which included Aaron Thompson, Abdour-Rahiim Therese, Abdelrahman Daoudi. With the assistance of Stephen Ikponmwonsa, Saeed Bakht and Jeremiah Francis, Landry Ane scored two more
tries in a man of the match effort.
Final score – Rokeby 6 & Brampton Manor 9
