Construction of approximately 5km of Bruce Highway on a new alignment in
the area Southwest of Ayr (QLD), heading northwards, including an overpass
bridge and abutments over a local road and rail (two span bridge), major rock
fill across difficult terrain (wetlands), passing lane and new facilities for a rest
area at the Sandy Corner rest stop.
Decmil Engineering will carry out the construction works consisting of:

rock blanket with a five month
settlement period.
2 multicell culverts (50m and 90m
wide approx.) and other culvert/
concrete drainage.
Cane rail/road overpass with 7m
high embankment approaches.

bitumen sealing and associated
road furniture works.
Traffic management.

cultural heritage monitoring and
management.

A feature of the project is the design
and construction of the rail overpass
over the cane rail track that services
Wilmar’s Brandon sugar mill. It

using smart engineering solutions

construction team.
