Making Aceh safer through Disaster Risk Reduction Within the Disaster Risk Reduction Aceh (DRR-A) programme Component 3 will develop the institutional, technical and human resources capacity of the Tsunami and Disaster Mitigation Research Centre (TDMRC) of Syiah Kuala University. TDMRC will be assisted to provide crucial information on the occurrence and (potential impact of) disasters, mitigation advice and services to the provincial, and local governments and partners in the DRR-A programme. TDMRC will be supported by institutional partners including the Geological Survey of The Netherlands – TNO and Deltares, in close collaboration with the provincial government of Aceh, BRR and other international, national and local contributors and beneficiaries. Project results will support the integration of long-term disaster mitigation in the development process and contribute to improved spatial planning of the (re) construction of Aceh, thereby minimizing the effects of future disasters and maximizing sustainable socio-economic growth. Strengthening the Tsunami Disaster Mitigation Research Centre (TDMRC) Syiah Kuala University - Aceh Natural hazard maps and data – risk maps and other deliverables (data sets, risk zonations, recommendations for spatial planning etc. in information database).
