Replacing just four ounces of beef in your diet a week with a vegetarian option can save more than 3,000 gallons of water. Your one-year effect: 171,704 gallons of water saved. The effect if everyone in the U.S. did it for one year: More than twice the volume of water in the Chesapeake Bay. USE A LOWER SETTING ON YOUR DISHWASHER Why it is worth the effort: Contrary to popular belief, it’s almost never necessary to use the normal setting on a dishwasher or to rinse plates beforehand. The light-wash setting cleans just as well while reducing water use up to 55 percent. Your one-year effect: 2,860 gallons of water saved. The effect if everyone in the U.S. did it for one year: Equal to the amount of water that would cover Rhode Island by a foot. AND THAT'S NOT ALL! While supplies last, we will have Back-to-School Goodie Bags that include a few back-to-school essentials for elementary school students along with information tables available where you can stop by to find out information on or ask questions about: Our maintenance services and your work orders The Live Army Green Utility Program and billing Our Self-Help Center, and The many resident services offered to you as a valued resident This is a special event exclusively for Villages at Belvoir residents that you will not want to miss! For those of you that have lived here for some time, there are portions of the policy that we wanted to make certain you were aware of should you be looking to add a pet or an additional pet to your home as all residents are required to comply with all requirements as noted below while residing on Fort Belvoir. New requirements included as part of the policy, as detailed below, apply to you as a current resident as specified: The number of acceptable pets allowed per home has increased to no more than three (3) acceptable pets per home. The previous Pet Policy allowed no more than two (2) acceptable pets per home. A Pet Deposit equal to $150 per pet is now required. As current resident, the previous Pet Policy that did not require a Pet Deposit still applies to any pets that were in your home before 10 July 2013 that you registered with your Community Management Office by completing and submitting the required Pet Registration Form. Registered pets that you had in your home before 10 July 2013 are NOT subject to a Pet Deposit for as long as you remain in your current home. However, should you bring any new/additional pet or pets into your home, the $150 Pet Deposit would apply to each pet. The Pet Deposit would also apply to all pets in your home should you transfer to another home here on Fort Belvoir. In either instance, you will need to register all pets with your Community Management Office and sign a new Pet Addendum. Copies of the Pet Policy, Pet Addendum, Pet Registration Form, and Resident Responsibility Guide are available in the Document Center on The Villages at Belvoir website (www.villagesatbelvoir.com). As always, we encourage you to contact your Community Management Office should you have any questions. Household Energy Conservation Tip Alternate Methods of Cooking Instead of using your oven every day, consider using your microwave or even grilling outside while the weather is still nice. Heating your oven up daily adds more heat to the interior of your home and therefore requires your air conditioning cooling system to work harder and longer. If you do need to use your oven, consider baking in the morning hours when it is cooler outside and your air conditioning may not need to be used.
