The Taste Cooks! Returns to Showcase Some of the Best Chefs in Tacoma
[DATE RELEASED] (Tacoma, Wash.) – This summer Emerald Queen Casino’s Taste of Tacoma® presented by
BECU, scheduled June 27-29 at Point Defiance Park, is thrilled to present the one and only The Taste Cooks!.
Come to the north end of the park and watch as some of the Puget Sound’s most notable chefs take part in live
culinary demonstrations in a delightful and interactive venue.
Amanda Westbrooke, host of CityLine on TV Tacoma, is the high energy and enthusiastic emcee for The Taste
Cooks!. On Westbrooke’s show she highlights events and activities happening around the Tacoma area and will
be returning to The Taste Cooks! for her second year. Westbrooke brings personality and interaction to the
venue while getting the audience excited.
This is The Taste Cooks! second year and is expected to be another success. Interested viewers are encouraged
to come early to each demonstration to grab a seat, but there is no limit to the amount of people who can enjoy
the entertainment.
Each day of The Taste Cooks! brings new chefs and intriguing recipes. Skilled chefs will showcase their unique
culinary skills to a live audience. On Friday, Chef Gil Turturici from Boathouse 19 will be creating a raw Salmon
(poke) salad. Turturici assured that this unconventional salad will please even the most adventurous seafood
lovers. Saturday will have Chef Kevin Carbonell from Famous Dave’s, preparing his Burnt Ends made from their
famous Smoked Brisket and Sweet & Zesty sauce.
Chefs will have the opportunity to do individual interactive cooking demonstrations where they can create a dish
of their choosing. All demonstrations will be done on a fully-equipped stage provided by Viking. Select local
chefs will also be competing in a Cook Off! where they will be given three mystery ingredients, and a small
pantry of basic cooking staples. After battling it out with another chef to create the perfect dish, the audience
will receive the honor of judging both dishes and picking a winning entrée. The chef who wins will be crowned as
The Taste Cooks Master! and featured on the EQC Taste of Tacoma® presented by BECU’s website with a chance
to win awesome prizes. The Taste Cooks! is sponsored by The Tacoma News Tribune, and will be a great venue
at this year’s EQC Taste of Tacoma® presented by BECU.
