is also a series of rallies that brings communities and their schools together to
promote discussion and positive action around issues of human rights and racial
tolerance.
CONTINUOUS SCHOOL IMPROVEMENT
PROCESS - PRESENTATION
Lee Ann Stacey, Principal, Dr. W.A. MacLeod Elementary School, provided an
overview of the Continuous School Improvement Process (CSI), which is a

initiative, action plans and strategies continue to be developed to increase the
percentage of students meeting expectations to at least 70% in Mathematics as
measure by provincial and school-based assessments, and to decrease inappropriate

JOINT MEETING OF EDUCATION AND
OPERATIONAL SERVICES COMMITTEE
On Tuesday, May 20, 2014, a joint meeting of the Education and Operational Services
committees will be held in the CCRSB boardroom starting at 6:30 pm. This will allow
representatives from Wentworth Consolidated School, River John Consolidated
School and Maitland District School, to provide an update on their development of a
“Hub Model” concept and alternate funding sources as expressed by the Board in its
decisions of March 20, 2013.
CORRESPONDENCE - KAREN CASEY
MINISTER OF EDUCATION AND EARLY
CHILDHOOD DEVELOPMENT
Correspondence was received from Karen Casey, Minister of Education and Early
Childhood Development, dated April 24, 2014, requesting the Board to consider
extending the closure date of Wentworth Consolidated School, River John
Consolidated School and Maitland District School by one year, in order to allow the
communities to properly explore a “hub model” concept and new guidelines to be
published by the Department of Education in September 2014. In light of the
upcoming joint meeting of the Education and Operational Services committees and
the respective communities, it was decided to postpone the decision until after the
May 20 meeting. Discussion was held concerning the process to rescind a previous
motion.
