Please contact us with your full name, exact dates plus number and ages of all campers in your family/group Do I need to do a deposit? There is no deposit required to secure a booking but we ask you let us know at least 2 weeks prior to your arrival date if you need to cancel your booking. Facilities: Are there showers? No, it is recommended that you bring solar showers and tents. Where is the nearest shop? Kuaotunu village is 5km from the camp. There is a general store, café and pizza restaurant at Kuaotunu. For petrol you will need to go to Whiting, Whangapoa or Coromandel Is there a small shop on the camp for general items? A not yet but this is in the pipeline. There may however be a coffee/ice-cream caravan present over the peak camping period. Is the water safe for drinking? We provide filtered and treated drinking water from a large tank situated in the main access area. Taps around the camp provide general use water, i.e. for the dishes or showers. Activities: How close is the beach to the camp sites? Closest camping sites are just over the dunes and across the road from the beach, about 50meters. Is the beach safe for swimming? Is Otama a surf beach? Where is the nearest boat ramp? Can we hold our wedding on your camp? Otama beach is a safe beach. It has no rips. The beach can shelve quite steeply at times making it deep quickly and in a big sea the waves can dump. There is a lagoon at the eastern end of the beach that is very popular with families with small children. When the conditions are right Otama has some of the best surf in the district. A there is a large concrete boat ramp at Kuaotunu and also a couple of ramps at Opito bay, both 5km away from the camp. There is no boat access from Otama unless you can carry your boat from the car park. A yes, we have hosted weddings here in the past. We provide a large private space for a marquee.
