Spring Semester Items:
Do you need advice or help?
•
Supply: FTX is coming up fast and we need to start getting
deficiencies taken care of. The Chain of Command should be
sending the packing list out with all gear necessary for this
mission.
ALL DEFICIENCIES NEED TO BE TAKEN CARE OF PRIOR TO
THE PCI LAB ON 3APR.
The supply office hours are:
Monday-Friday: 7:30 am- 6:30 pm
Closed Saturday and Sunday
•
GAFPB: The German Armed Forces Badge for Military
Proficiency is a decoration awarded and worn by German
soldiers of all ranks. As a Cadet in the U.S. Army you have the
opportunity to earn this award in late April. If you are still
interested talk to your instructor or send an email to CPT.
Burmeister. [email protected]
•
ROTC Scholarship: If you are looking to get an ROTC
scholarship, make sure that you are working on your PT score,
have a good GPA, and that you get involved in the Ute Warrior
Battalion as much as you can!
•
PT: Make sure that you are attending PT Monday, Wednesday,
and Friday. This attendance is apart of your ROTC class grade. If
you are unable to make it to PT, let your Chain of Command
know, but most importantly let Mr. Crawford know so that you
can be excused. He is the only person that can give you an
excusal so make sure you send him an email prior to your
absence. [email protected]

DINING-OUT: April 26 is quickly approaching. It is time to start
looking for a date and getting your ASU’s to the cleaners. The
cost per person is $15 and payment is due April 1 ($5
dollar late fees). Remember this s a required event for
contracted cadets and that non-contracted are highly
encouraged to attend.
Commander’s Guidance
Ute Warriors,
Our operational tempo has been as fast paced as it has
ever been this year. We had a successful community
service event at Uintah Elementary, awarded the many
accomplishments of our cadets at our award ceremony,
and sent 20 highly motivated cadets to White Sands, New
Mexico to represent our battalion in the Bataan Memorial
Death March. To our immediate front, we have the
Taylorsville Drill Competition, Spring FTX, and our annual
Dining Out.
c/LTC Harris
We have less than four weeks until the end of classes,
MSIV commissioning, and preparing all cadets for summer
training. Saying it is crunch time is an understatement.
Keep your head in the game and do not sacrifice your
standards. Stay diligent in school, and continue to
condition your mind and body. Remember if it were easy,
anyone would do it.
It is not an easy feat to practice in the art of leadership,
while juggling being a full time student, and meeting all of
your ROTC commitments. However, your ability to excel
in being a leader, scholar, and an athlete is the standard in
how your competency as leader is accessed and how you
are ultimately branched.
Stay in the fight Ute Warriors and finish strong!
C/LTC Harris

difference between a
boss and a leader: a

leader says, “Let’s
go!” – E.M. Kelly
Ute Warriors,
c/CSM Belger
I want to begin by saying congratulations to the 20 cadets
who went and successfully completed the Bataan Memorial Death
March! Way to represent the Utes! Remember that LTC Heineman
challenged each of us to compete in at least one event this year and
we need to be constantly working towards that challenge. I want to
see cadets challenging themselves both mentally and physically and
go above and beyond what is expected of us.
As we go through the last month or so of the semester, we all
need to focus and work hard. We have many big events coming up
and we need to be ready for them. We have FTX in just a few short
weeks. It is critical that everyone is coming and actively engaging in
labs and preparing for a weekend of hard work and good training.
We will show WSU and USU why we have the best battalion and
cadets around.
“Success seems to
be connected with
action. Successful
people keep
moving. They make
mistakes, but they
don’t quit”
-Conrad Hilton
We also have the Dinning Out coming up! It is a night full of
fun with friends and comrades and is a chance for us to get to know
each other outside of a training environment! With that being said,
everyone needs to make sure your ASU’s are ready to go for the big
night. We are nearing the end of the semester and I want all of us to
look back at our accomplishments and see have far each of us has
grown personally and as future leaders. Remember to go to class,
study, work hard, and of course have a little bit of fun! Let us show
everyone why we are one of the top battalions in the nation.

Cadet Spotlight of the Month:
CDT Nowell
Some may ask how I ended up in Utah, growing up in New Zealand?
Well here is my story of how I got to be in Utah at Westminster College:
I was born and lived in New Zealand until I was eighteen; after I finished
high school I made the big decision to move to the United States. I chose
to come to Utah because I already had family living here; I looked around
at some of the school and chose Westminster College because of the nice
campus and small classes.
I have always wanted to be in the military and it’s my goal to eventually
become a pilot in the Army. When I was back in New Zealand I checked
out the military there but there were not very many opportunities to
become a pilot (our Air Force has a couple of Hueys), this helped me with
my decision in moving over here. Upon arriving I decided that I wanted
the experience of being enlisted so I joined the Utah National Guard as a
15E Unmanned Aircraft Systems Repairer. I am currently in the 19th
Special Forces Group (I got to go to Airborne School), and I love my job,
working with the RQ-7B Shadow UAV. I now have the extremely hard
decision of figuring out whether I want to leave my job and contract with
the ROTC, which would take me closer to my goal of being a helicopter
pilot but I have had such a great experience being enlisted so far. I have
enjoyed getting to know many of you so far and I look forward to seeing
what the future holds!

April 26, 1700-2100
RICE-ECCLES STADIUM 451 S 1400 E | SALT LAKE CITY, UT
We are celebrating the end of the academic training year. The cost is $15 per
ticket if paid by April 1, after that date there will be a $5 dollar late fee
charge, which will be collected by Mr. Crawford. If you’re contracted then this
is a required event. If you’re not contracted, you are still strongly encouraged
to come and reflect with your fellow cadets on the 2013-2014 training year.
Everyone is encouraged to bring a guest and show off all of our
accomplishments from this year. It will be a three course served dinner with
a chicken or vegan option. The attire is ASU for cadets and formal for the
guests.
(The first two people to e-mail [email protected] will receive one
