The ERA Packaging and Decorative Gravure Conference 2014 will be held in Dresden, capital of the Free State of Saxony, located in eastern Germany near the Czech and Polish borders. Manfred Janoschka, ERA Vice President The conference programme on Tuesday 4 November will highlight the latest developments in packaging and decorative printing, not only in gravure, and also the packaging buyers’ demands on the printing process for their packaging, and the ongoing developments in on-press colour management for packaging and decorative printing. On the Wednesday morning, there will be a visit to Sächsische Walzen-Gravur (SWG), now part of the Janoschka Group, a cylinder engraving company with among other equipment a Hell Cellaxy. The Welcome Reception will be held in the conference hotel, the Hilton, which is diagonally opposite the world-famous and fully restored Frauenkirche (Church of Our Lady). And the Conference Dinner in the “Dresden 1900” will give a fascinating impression of life in Dresden at the turn of the last century. We look forward to meeting you in Dresden in November. It has a long history as the capital and royal residence of the Kingdom of Saxony. Once a baroque jewel, its classical appearance has been fully restored, including buildings such as the Zwinger, the Semper Oper and the Frauenkirche, symbol of the city. Travel Dresden international airport (airport code DRS) has direct flights from many European cities, and may be reached from the rest of Europe and beyond via frequent connecting flights from Düsseldorf, Frankfurt and Munich. By Public Transport: From Dresden international airport the S-Bahn train to the central station (Hauptbahnhof) is a 20 minute journey running every half hour. From there, tram lines 3 and 7 take you to stop “Pirnaischer Platz” which is a 5 minute walk from the hotel.
