ORGANIZING COMMITTEE
This EuMaT Strategy Workshop is dedicated to material research for Thin Films technologies and related applications. It is an extraordinary workshop in comparison to
existing and approved events continuously organized by the European Society of
Thin Films (EFDS).
In 2012, the EFDS became a member of the Steering Committee of The European
Technology Platform for Advanced Engineering Materials and Technologies (EuMaT),
headquartered in Brussels.
The primary objective of EuMaT is to produce the Strategic Research Agenda which,
with appropriate involvement of industry and other main stakeholders. EuMaT will
identify needs and establishing priorities for advanced materials and technologies.

The focus of EFDS is also orientated to new challenges for developments of materials
dedicated to vacuum coating technologies and surface engineering to be used in a
wide range of applications.
Therefore, distinguished international experts will provide you advanced information and results on technological research needed for innovative and functional thin
film coatings in Europe. Materials for enhanced thin film coatings have to be inevitably deposited in industrial scale or mass production of advanced components.
Existing and future material research projects are presented and considered for
applications in six innovative industrial branches like Automotive, Transportation,
Aviation, Life science, Optics and Microelectronics.
This extraordinary program of this strategy workshop is dedicated to the activities
of EuMaT. You will recognize distinguished presenters and ambitious lectures in this
workshop as well as you will receive valid orientations for your future work.
As a summary of this workshop and its six lectures, challenging research and development directions will be recommended for European prospects in future.
Material scientists, experts in thin film or plasma technology, managers or politicians are cordially invited to participate in this event.
We do hope, that this public workshop will find your great interest and will motivate
you to contribute your ideas in the discussions as well as to support you in promoting
new cooperations and initiatives at an European level.
Our distinguished speakers for opening this strategy workshop will highlight their
involvement for ambitious material research activities in Europe, Germany and Saxon State Government.
