 Spotlight on Excellence Award – Mary Cortez, AHHS
 ExCEL Golden Apple Award – Angus McLeod, AHHS
 National Merit Semifinalists, National Merit Commended, and National Hispanic
Scholars - National Merit Semifinalists: Devon Lagueux, Laura Shub and Patricia Yoxall.
National Merit Commended students are: Hannah Brown, Seguin Guerrero, Joshua Halff, Andre
Hutchinson, Samantha Neally, Viriginia Noble, Annalise Pasztor, Emma Russell, Gabriel Sagun,
Claire Schenken, Joshua Sehres, Paris Shirley and Ellery Vaughan. National Hispanic Scholars
are: Erin DeLeon, Ellen Dyer, Seguin Guerrero, Andre Hutchinson, Ysabel Rose Vargas Lew,
Anna Mathias, Evan Medina, Samantha Neally, Ronald Rodgers, Kent Rush and Gabriella

Trustees approved:



General State Waiver for Foreign Exchange Students which limits the number of
foreign exchange students at AHHS each year to five students.
Revised local policies FD: Admissions and FM: Student Activities
TASB Policy Update 100, affecting local policies:










CPC(LOCAL): Office Management – Records Management
CRD(LOCAL): Insurance and Annuities Management – Health and Life Insurance
DCB(LOCAL): Employment Practices – Term Contracts
DCC(LOCAL): Employment Practices – Continuing Contracts
DCD(LOCAL): Employment Practices – At-Will Employment
DCE(LOCAL): Employment Practices – Other Types of Contracts
FDA(LOCAL): Admissions – Interdistrict Transfers
FL(LOCAL): Student Records
GBA(LOCAL): Information Access – Requests for Information
GKB(LOCAL): Community Relations – Advertising and fund Raising in the Schools
Trustees discussed Policy EIC(LOCAL): Academic Achievement – Class Ranking to include PE and
Athletics in calculating GPA for the Class of 2019 and beyond.
Trustees approved the following donations:
 $2,500 from the Alamo Heights School Foundation for the 2014-2015 Heights Heroes
Awards each receiving $500: Nick Hillman, Howard; Amy Lagueux, Cambridge, Joanne
Alverio, Woodridge, Mari Flores, AHJS; and Jeanette Branchizio, AHHS.
 Student Quality Violin and Viola with bow and case, estimated value of $600 Ms. Olive
Judson to the AHHS Strings Program.
 $700 from Boy Scout Troop 809 to help fund student incentives at Woodridge
Elementary
 15” Antonio Strad 240 model viola valued at $500 from Ms. Linda Ginn and a ½ size
Antonio Strad 4B model violin from Mr. Pete McConnell valued at $500 for the
Woodridge Strings Program.
 $4,500 from local businesses in support of the Junior School UIL and Science Olympiad
for the 2014-2015 school year.
Trustees approved the payment of bills, and amendment to the 2013-2014 and 2014-2015
Budget’s.
The next regularly scheduled meeting is Thursday, November 20, 2014 at 7:00 p.m. in the
Alamo Heights Central Office Board Room.
