Discussion
1. New Grade 5 rep
Naomi Little-Smith introduced herself to the group. Sharon Gilblin
will be leaving ISA in December and Naomi will then take over her
role.
2. PTA liaison
Amrita gave an update on the Halloween Story telling for K-1 on
Thursday 30th October, PTA need volunteers to help sign in and
sign out children coming along to the event.
3. Feedback from the
PAC parent coffees
PS/PK: Around 30 people attended. Both Rupali and Matthew, the
parent reps for PS and PK, think it is better to do their coffee
sessions together. The main topic was internet for EC children.
Parents are wondering whether their children should they be on
internet at that age? Having a session on this topic could be
interesting for parents.
Kindergarten : Amrita reported that there was not as high a turn out
as she’d expected. She informed that the main topic of discussion
was playground issues. She also informed that a concern was
raised that class blogs are not updated as regularly across all
classes.
Grade 1: Sharon was very happy with her session. She explained
that the main topic of discussion was the Language Academy.
Parents would like to have more information at a later stage when
their children are taking those lessons. Another issue of note was
the internet.

3. (continued)
Discussion
Grade 2: Mercedes reported that it had been an easy-going coffee
session. Swimming wasn’t a hot topic as it was thought it might be
due to the changes made in the programme.
Grade 3 : Kristen reported that it had been a very well-attended
session with a nicely integrated group of parents. The rep set up a
panel with different people (Tracey Winstone, Susan Loban,
Carolyn Lacey and Pepijn van den Toorn) which made the session
very interesting.
Grade 4 : Arlien reported that 35 to 40 people attended the session.
Grade 4 coordinator and Warren Apel were attending as well. Apps,
internet safety were discussed during this session.
Grade 5 : Naomi reported that about 40 people attended. Sharon
had arrange for a guest speaker, Warren Apel, who talked about
social media. Lots of information was given regarding this topic.
Other topics raised was French as an additional language in LS.
The parent who raised the question was concerned about the
continuity of the programme in French from Lower School to Upper
School. This led to a further question from another parents about
why French is the language offered as an alternative to Dutch.
