l3niversity of North Carolma at Chapel Hill
Postdoctoral positions are available in the Program in Molecular Biology & Biotechnology at the University of North
Carolina at Chapel Hill. There are extensive interactions with faculty in the Department of Biology, Department
of Biochemistry and Biophysics and the Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center. State-of-the-art facilities are
available including embryonic stem cell and transgenic mouse, automated DNA sequencing, and protein and
peptide chemistry facilities. Faculty include:
Victoria Bautch
- Mouse Models of Blood Vessel Formation.
W illiam Marzluff
- Control of Histone mRNA Metabolism Focusing on the Role of the 3’end of Histone
mRNA; Control of snRNA Biosynthesis in Developing Embryos.
Richard Samulski
- Integration of AAV and vector development for human gene therapy. Interaction with
the Human Gene Therapy Center.
Terry Van Dyke
- Molecular mechanisms of the role of tumor suppressor proteins such as p53 and pRB
in cancer and development. Approaches include transgenic mouse models, biochemistry
and molecular and cellular biology.
Yue Xiong
- Use of mammalian systems to investigate the mechanisms which regulate subunit
rearrangement of cyclin-dependent kinases (CDKs) during tumorigenesis. Additional
focus on delineating the interaction between cell cycle control and tumor suppression.
