A message from the Headmistress
Dear Parents,
Exciting news! Next week the contractors start on the much needed repairs and redecoration
of the front elevation of the old house. Please be vigilant when supervising your children in
this area.
We also have a new phone system in school aimed at improving communication and
directing your call to the person who will be able to help you the most! Details on page 3.
Kind regards,
Mrs S.A. Fisher - Headmistress
Special Award for Independent Learning Project
Many congratulations to Tanita Patel (Year Six) for achieving a special award for her
Independent Learning Project on World War One. Her beautiful embroidery and artwork
compliment the depth of her research. Tanita spent some time in Wolverhampton
archives and library and was particularly moved by the ‘white feather’ symbol.
Independent Learning Projects—World War One
Well done to the girls in Upper School who participated in the Independent Learning Project to
commemorate the 100th anniversary of World War One. There were some excellent projects and all
of them have been highly praised by staff and parents. Congratulations to Sienna Sahota, Rachel
Bond, Leila Uppal, Rahma Umar, Keara Uppal and Elizabeth Burnett who had highly commended
awards. Headteacher’s Awards were given to Madeleine Walker, Eleanor Harvey, Claudia Rosewarne,
Esha Dudrah, Kiya Somal, Grace Rosewarne, Millie Braitch, Sachkirat Bhambra, Isabella Beech, Chloe
Beech, Esha Bharj, Amy Timmins, Keira Sahota, Shreya Bhardwaj, Mya Hardawa and Jiya Undre.
Repair and Redecoration to the Front Elevation.
The repairs and
redecoration to the
front elevation along
with some roof work will
commence on Monday. Scaffolding will be on-site throughout October. This work needs to be started
before the weather turns and so, unavoidably, the work will be taking place whilst school is in session.
Please be aware that the children’s entrance will be out of action for the next few weeks. On arriving at
school please use the door at the top of the garden, requiring access through the side gates—the girls
will need to walk down the side driveway and back up the garden path. Girls in Upper school will also be
dismissed from the lower gate at 3.45pm, as will any after school clubs. The car park will be out of use
to all cars, so the road is likely to be more congested than normal. Please remember that Mark Hughes
of Wolverhampton Lawn Tennis Club has given permission for cars to park next door. Staff cars must be
parked down by the indoor courts. Please remind
your children about the safety aspect on
scaffolding and please supervise them closely
when entering or leaving the site via the car park.
If you were wondering, the plan is to return the
building to its original paint work colour—I believe
some of the old P.N.E.U. girls will be very pleased
to hear that!
New Telephone System - One Number: 01902 751088
This week Newbridge Preparatory School had a new telephone system fitted to improve our
communication both with yourselves and internally. Please be aware that when you ring into school now
on 01902 751088, you will hear this menu:





To report a child absence, press 1 (Ms Kempson)
For Accounts and Fees , press 2 (Mrs Walker)
To speak to a member of staff from TOTs, press 3 (Mrs Moss)
To speak to a member of staff from Nursery, press 4 (Mrs Charlesworth)
For all other enquiries press 5 (Miss Taylor)
The offices and telephones are staffed from 8.00 a.m. – 4.30 p.m.
After this time, the phone system will automatically direct calls
into After School Club for your convenience.
The good news is that you now only need to remember one
telephone number when contacting the school. All previous
mobile numbers for TOTS, Nursery and After School Club are no
longer in operation. One number: 01902 751088!
Please may I also remind you that when coming into school, your
first port of call is Miss Taylor, who is based in the room which was my old office. Please go directly to Miss
Taylor, who will happily help you and direct you to the main school office if required. I know old habits die
hard … I keep going the wrong way too!

Samaritan’s Purse - Shoebox Appeal
This morning, Mrs Wallbridge visited the children in assembly to ask if they
would like to pack a Christmas Shoebox for Operation Christmas Child. A leaflet
will be sent out with this newsletter.
How to Pack a Shoe Box:
SHOEBOX: Find an empty medium-sized shoebox and wrap the box and lid separately.
BOY OR GIRL? Decide if your gift is for a Boy or a Girl and the age category: 2-4, 5-9 or 10-14.
Download and print the appropriate boy/girl label. Mark the correct age category and stick the label
to the top of your shoebox. Get the Label.
GIFT SUGGESTIONS Please fill your box with a selection of
new gifts from the following list, or similar items:
TOYS: Include items that children will immediately embrace
such as dolls or stuffed toys (with CE label), toy trucks,
harmonica, yo-yo, skipping rope, ball, small puzzles etc.
SCHOOL SUPPLIES: Pens, pencils & sharpeners, crayons or felt pens, stamps & ink pad sets, writing
pads or notebooks & paper, solar calculators, colouring & picture books etc.
HYGIENE ITEMS: Toothbrush and toothpaste, bars of wrapped soap, comb or hairbrush, flannel.
OTHER ITEMS: Hat, cap, gloves or scarf, sunglasses, hair accessories, jewellery set, wind up torch,
wrapped sweets (sell-by date must be at least March of the following year).
DO NOT INCLUDE: used or damaged items, war related items such as toy guns, play soldiers or knives;
chocolate or other food items; liquids or lotions of any type including bubbles; medicines; hand-made
or knitted stuffed toys; anything of a political, racial or religious nature; marbles or sharp objects; glass
containers, mirrors or fragile items; clothing other than as listed above.
INCLUDE £3 DONATION PER BOX: We ask for a minimum £3 shipping donation to cover UK
transportation, overseas shipping and promotion for each box you prepare. You can give online to
discover the destination of your shoebox. You can also write a cheque to Samaritan’s Purse, place it in
an envelope and put it inside your shoebox, then secure the box with an elastic band. If you do more
than one box, just make out one cheque to cover all of your shoebox donations, put it in an envelope
and place it inside one of your shoeboxes.
DROP YOUR SHOEBOX off at school by Friday 7th November in the main entrance.
