Parent Information Pack AUSTRALIAN RUGBY’S NATIONAL YOUTH COMPETITION 2015 The Junior Gold Cup (JGC) is a national long term talent development and competition program at U15 and U17 age levels. The truly national nature of the JGC competition provides players, coaches, administrators and match officials with the opportunity to be involved in high levels of representative rugby programming and development at a National level on an annual basis whilst maintaining local/regional representation. The scheduling of the JGC program allows players to compete in a National competition involving 24 teams in each age group while at the same time being able to participate in their local club and school competitions. The JGC program is an evolution of the Junior Gold Program conducted over the past three years and is a key part of Australian Rugby’s “Pathway to Gold” that will provide talented players an opportunity to compete against the best in their age group across Australia. High level performance and development in this competition will provide players with the foundations to push for medium to long term higher level representation including the ARU’s National Gold Squad, State and National U20 teams, the Australian Sevens team and ultimately Super Rugby and the Wallabies. Players selected in their regional Junior Gold Cup squad will receive: ¾ Expert coaching from highly trained local coaches. ¾ Strength and Conditioning programs delivered by highly trained local coaches. ¾ An extensive ‘Lifeskills’ program* – Australian Rugby’s off field development program promoting character development, respect and behavioural standards. ¾ Training and playing apparel. ¾ National competition involvement and exposure. *u17 only Teams participating at both U15 and U17 level are as follows: Queensland: Brisbane (3), Gold Coast, Darling Downs, Sunshine Coast, Central Qld, North Qld, Logan and Ipswich NSW: Sydney (4), Western NSW, Illawarra, Central Coast, Hunter, Northern Inland, North Coast; and ACT, WA, SA, Victoria. 2 Trials for the JGC will commence in November 2014 with the competition being conducted from midFebruary until the end of March. A: Last year there was a capped levy for all participants. All money was pooled and used for each travelling team. That led to a disparity as some teams received little value compared to others and has been removed with each member union setting their own cost. Q: What will it cost me? A: Depending on how we travel the program will cost between $1200 and $2000. The levy covers numerous things including kit, travel and accommodation, food, strapping and general incidentals. It also covers the hosting costs that we will incur when the other teams visit. Q: What will squad members receive? A: All players who pay the deposit will receive a BLK Junior Gold Cup training shirt. Those selected in the final 30 will receive the following • BLK Playing kit (shirt, shorts, socks) • BLK Training kit (t-shirt, singlet and gym shorts) • BLK Tracksuit jacket • BLK Cap • BLK Bag 5 All players will also receive a one month gym membership to a Goodlife gym to assist with their training program, specialised strength and conditioning training from a qualified trainer, including personalised training plans if required. Coaching from ARU qualified coaches, coaching from the ARU curriculum. The under 17 players also receive a life skills session with Michael Jeh. 6 Training Dates Key U15 U17 Both Session Date Time 5 U15/17 Sun 30th Nov 11.00am 6 U15 Wed 3rd Dec 06.00pm TBC th Location Focus S&C ‐ Tackle Defence #1 Tackle Defence Port Adelaide RUFC #3 Position specific 7 U15 Sat 6 Dec 11.00am Port Adelaide RUFC S&C ‐ Tackle contest #1 Tackle contest #2 7 U17 Sun 7th Dec 11.00am Port Adelaide RUFC S&C ‐ Tackle contest #1 Tackle contest #3 th 8 U15 Wed 10 Dec 6.00pm TBC 9 U15/U17 Sun 14th Dec 9.30am Port Adelaide RUFC Position specific 6.00pm TBC Position specific & Attack #1 th 10 U15 Wed 17 Dec Position specific Christmas Break 11 U15/17 Wed 8th Jan 6.00pm TBC 12 U15 Sat 10th Jan 9.30am Port Adelaide RUFC TBC 9.30am Port Adelaide RUFC TBC 12 U17 th Sun 11 Jan th Position specific 13 U15/17 Wed 14 Jan 6.00pm TBC 14 U15 Sat 17th Jan 9.30am Port Adelaide RUFC TBC 14 U17 Sun 18th Jan 9.30 am Port Adelaide RUFC TBC Wed 21 Jan 6.00pm TBC th 15 U15/17 st TBC TBC 16 U15 Sat 24 Jan 9.30am Port Adelaide RUFC TBC 16 U17 Sun 25th Jan 9.30am Port Adelaide RUFC TBC 17 U15/17 Wed 28th Jan 6.00pm st TBC TBC 18 U15 Sat 31 Jan 9.30am Port Adelaide RUFC TBC 18 U17 st Sun 1 Feb 9.30am Port Adelaide RUFC TBC 19 U15/17 Wed 4th Feb 6.00pm TBC 20 U15 Sat 7th Feb 9.30am Port Adelaide RUFC TBC 9.30am Port Adelaide RUFC TBC 20 U17 th Sun 8 Feb TBC 7 Session Date 21 U15/17 Wed 11th Feb 06.00pm 22 U15/17 Round 1 Time th Sat 14 Feb th Sun 15 Feb Location Focus TBC TBC TBC Adelaide Shores Captain's run TBC TBC SA vs Sydney North West Match review th 23 U15/17 Wed 18 Feb 6.00pm TBC 24 U15 Sat 21st Feb 9.30am Port Adelaide RUFC TBC 9.30am Port Adelaide RUFC TBC 25 U17 nd Sun 22 Feb th 26 U15/17 Wed 25 Feb 06.00pm TBC 26 U15 Sat 28th Feb 9.30am Port Adelaide RUFC TBC 27 U17 Sun 1st Mar 9.30am Port Adelaide RUFC TBC th TBC 28 U15/17 Wed 4 Mar 06.00pm TBC TBC Rnd 2 Fri 6th Mar TBC TBC Sydney South Harbour or Northern Inland vs SA Sat 7th Mar Rnd 3 Sun 8th Mar Mon 9th Mar Rnd 4 th Tue 10 Mar Rest TBC Sydney South Harbour or Northern Inland vs SA TBC Rest TBC TBC (Canberra) ACT vs SA th 29 U15/U17 Rnd 5 30 U15/17 Wed 11 Mar Sat 14th Mar TBC Sun 15th TBC Mar Wed 18th 6.00pm Mar Return to Adelaide Adelaide Shores Captain's run TBC SA vs Hunter TBC Match/Program review 8
