Grade 2A: We are making plans for
a neighbourhood walk next

available to join us. Thanks, [email protected]

Grade 5A: Greetings from Grade 5A! We had another great
week together. On Wednesday afternoon we welcomed Jenn, a
veterinarian assistant from the Grand River Animal Hospital, to
our classroom. Jenn shared a lot of interesting information on
what a typical vet visit is like, common diseases that our dogs
can get, and ways that we can keep our dogs healthy. This
coming Friday we are looking forward to the Grade 5 Retreat
and welcome Mrs. Baker, Mrs. Guetter, Mr. Mudde, Mrs.
Schoon, and Mrs. Zandberg as parent chaperones.

Grade 8 Retreat: Last Friday the grade 8's spent the day at
Christie's Conservation Area and we had a great day. We would
like to thank Mrs. Bettie Van Gils Kloet for her inspirational talk
on the school theme - Let all creation praise His name. Thank
you also to Mrs. Simonffy and Mr. and Mrs. Kim for
chaperoning the students.
Grade 8 Fund Raising: The grade 8 class will once again be
selling Jennard cheese and Dutch treats as part of their fund
raising endeavors to raise money for their year end trip to
Ottawa. A letter came home with the grade 8 students today
detailing the specifics of the program. Please consider
supporting our grade 8's. For the general community who may
not know a grade 8 student, forms are also available on our
website under News ¸ Fundraisers ¸ Grade 8 Cheese. The first
order is due September 30 for delivery on October 14. Orders
can be dropped off at the office.

Spelling Bee 2014 - The word lists are
ready and some students received a copy
today to prepare for the first stage of the
bi annual CCS Spelling Bee. Encourage
your child to pick up a list of 40 words and
compete in their grade level, in-class
spelling bee that will take place on or
before October 8th. The top 2 spellers of
each grade will compete in the CCS Spelling Bee Wed. October
22nd. There are three divisions - grade 3&4, grade 5&6, and
grade 7&8. Have a prodigious weekend!
Volunteering in the Library:
The library opened this week, much to the delight
of many students and teachers! A huge thank you
to the volunteers who have signed up for this year! The library
program at CCS depends on the volunteers to be successful. We
still have openings for volunteers in the library, especially on
Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons. Please get in touch with
Ms. Benjamins if you are able to help out!
.....and now for the Sports!
Senior Girls Soccer: Exhibition game at Providence Christian
School (Dundas) on Monday, September 22. Be sure to have a
parent pick you up at CCS at 5:15 pm.
JVW
Boys Soccer - The boys soccer team will be playing in the HDCH
soccer tournament this Tuesday. Players should meet at CCS at
8:20 if they wish to carpool to HDCH. For those going straight to
HDCH, please be at the soccer field at 8:40. Our first game
begins at 9:00 a.m. We also play at 12:30 and 2:50. Boys can be
picked up at 4:00 at HDCH or 4:30ish at CCS. The following
week (Sept. 30) is the district tournament and more information
will be sent home next week.
Cross Country: The team has been made and posted and
training for our first meet has begun. A letter was handed out to
each team member to bring home. This letter is also available
on the CCS Sports page.
Our first meet is Thursday September 25th at Olympic Park
(corner Scenic and Mohawk) beginning around 10 am. We have
a few drivers but a few more would be excellent. We also need
about 13 volunteers for the CCS Invitational Meet on October
17th. In particular, we need someone with a medical
background and someone who is willing to "sweep" the course
after each of the four races. "Sweeping" could be done on a
bicycle or on foot, if you're a runner too. Please contact
[email protected] if you are willing to help out for
even part of a day. Thanks very much.
Gouda Cheese: Gouda cheese will once again be sold out of the
CCS main office this year. Last year we raised over $1,500 for
the CCS student fund just through this once a month sales
campaign! The first order will be going in Friday, September 26
for delivery on Wednesday, October 1. This delicious gouda
cheese is available to you in 1/4, ½ , or full wheels. Prices are
$24.00 per quarter of mild or spiced gouda, $26 per quarter of
medium gouda, and $28 per quarter of aged gouda. To order,
call the school office, leave a message on the answering
www.ccshamilton.ca
machine, or email [email protected]. A schedule for the
year will be included with your first order.
After School Care is looking for a student volunteer(s) 1-3 days
a week for around an hour after school. Must be Grade 9 or
higher student(s). Please contact Amy Hood Almas
905-536-7665 or come by the music room after school please.
Thank you!

September 1 we have realized a total profit of just
over $2,600! Amazing!! Thank you! If you haven't
signed up yet, just stop by the office and we will get
you started. If you are not able to stop by the office,
send a form in with payment with your child by
Monday end of day and we will send the gift cards
home on the Tuesday of each week. Or sign up for
monthly orders through the preauthorized payment
(PAR) method and we will send your gift cards home
on the first Tuesday of every month. Payment will
come out of your bank account on the 15th of the

Please take note that effectively immediately, all
orders will be sent home on Tuesdays instead of
Wednesdays. Thank you for you continued support!
