Welcome To VESBO® Spira Pipe Presentation
Spira Piping System
What is Spira Pipe?
VESBO® Spira Pipe is a uPVC piping technology for non-pressure, gravitational
infrastructure applications.
What is uPVC?
PVC (Polyvinyl Chloride) is a chemical compound of chlorine, carbon and
hydrogen which is produced by polymerization of the monomer vinyl chloride.
PVC is made of 43% carbon (derived predominantly from oil/gas via ethylene)
and 57% chlorine (derived from industrial gas).
Spira Piping System
What is uPVC?
Since PVC has polar groups (chlorine), and is amorphous, therefore mixes well
with various other substances. The required physical properties of end products
(e.g., flexibility, elasticity, impact resistance, anti-fouling, prevention of microbial
growth, anti-mist, fire retarding) can be freely designed through formulation with
plasticisers and various additives, modifiers, and colouring agents.
The raw material without these additives and stabilizers is called uPVC; where
“u” stands for plasticizers –unplasticized, means that the material has not been
softened by the addition of chemicals known as plasticizers.

VESBO® Spira pipe include a major rate of, 86%, PVC material along with impact
modifier, stabilizers, titanium dioxide and modified epoxy. These auxiliary
materials increase the strength of the pipes against external effects like UV rays,
impacts, and variable weather conditions.
Spira Piping System
Spira Pipe Raw Material Properties
Titanium Dioxide  Gives opaqueness provides protection against UV rays and gives color.
Modified Epoxy  Used as an auxiliary additional agent for elasticity and stabilizers.
Increases heat and light stability.
Plasticizer Provides ease of processability, better flow properties under heat & pressure,
decrease the fragility, and increase the flexibility.
Inner and Outer Slipping Agent  Inner slipping agents improve the flow properties of
polymer mixing while it is processing. Outer slipping agents prevent to stick the polymer
mixing to the mould.
Spira Piping System
Spira Pipe Raw Material Properties
VESBO® Spira Pipes also provides all the uPVC material properties which are briefly:
Resistance to oil & chemicals & abrasion
Durability
Long lasting service life
Strength (tensile, bending, fatigue)
Little Creep behavior
Lower Vicat Softening Temperature
Higher self ignition temperature
Fire resistance
Fire retardant
Self-extinguishing
Lower linear expansion
Resistance to oxidative reactions
Environmentally friendly.
Spira Piping System
Production Technology
uPVC Spira Pipes, spirally wounded pipes, are
obtained by forming pipes with the patented
winding technology of specially formulated PVC
strips which are produced from extrusion
process in required diameter and strength.
These strips are rolled to special drums in order
to provide ease of storage, transportation and
enables on-site.
Spira Piping System
Production Technology
Thanks to this unique patent technology, pipes can be produced in factory and on-site as well.
Spira Piping System
Production Technology
The excellent design of ribbed outer surface is more economical but has higher strength
than other similar products while low inner surface roughness provides better flowing.
Profiles reach their strenght by being locked along the profile during spirally embracing
which also have a complete impermeability by applying chemical adhesive.
Spira Piping System
Production Technology
In diameters equal or bigger than 800 mm Spira Pipe can be surrounded
with steel band galvanise in order to increase the strength of the pipe
against external loads.
Spira Piping System
Production Technology
By transporting spirally
winding unit and strips with
“T” shaped grooves available
in 5 different types and
dimensions for wide range of
pipe production between
150mm to 3600mm.
Spira Piping System
Production Technology
Thanks to its on-site
production technology,
Spira Pipe can be produced
in desired length without
joint. (300mm – 50mt pipe)
Spira Piping System
Connection Method
100% Leak Proof
Spira Pipes are connected to each other
with couplings which are produced with the
same material uPVC. Connection is made by
appliying uPVC solvent on both pipe.
With the simple, fast and reliable
connection method of socket and other
fittings, without requiring any welding
equipment or any other tool, it is much
easier. This makes Spira pipe cost efficient &
time saving on assembling.
Spira Piping System
Advantages of Use
In addition to uPVC piping systems advantages, VESBO® Spira Piping System advantages are;
On-site Production  VESBO® Spira
Piping System is the only piping system
that allows on-site production. Due to the
application, Spira pipe allows the pipe to
be produced in desired lengths, rapid
laying and zero loss. This provides less
connection and less labor work which
makes Spira pipe cost efficient & time
saving on production.
Spira Piping System
Advantages of Use
In addition to uPVC piping systems advantages, VESBO® Spira Piping System advantages are;
Transportation  The volumes of the
strips/profiles, rolled to special drums,
are approximately 10 times less than
other alternative piping systems, in other
words reducing the cost of
transportation, fuel consumption, loading
& unloading time approximately 10
times. This makes Spira pipe cost efficient
& time saving & environmentally friendly
on transportation.
Spira Piping System
Advantages of Use
In addition to uPVC piping systems advantages, VESBO® Spira Piping System advantages are;
Ø1500mm – 127 m
Ø1500mm – 14 m
Spira Piping System
Advantages of Use
In addition to uPVC piping systems advantages, VESBO® Spira Piping System advantages are;
Storage  VESBO® Spira Pipe
are being stored as drums. Pipes
can be formed out of these
profiles, rolled on special drums,
when necessary. Therefore, less
storage area is required for the
material.

In addition to uPVC piping systems advantages, VESBO® Spira Piping System advantages are;
Spira Piping System
Advantages of Use
In addition to uPVC piping systems advantages, VESBO® Spira Piping System advantages are;
Flexible Rigidity  According to
project criteria, Spira Pipe’s rigidity
can be adapted. After calculation
the external loads, 2,3 or 4 rows
steel band can be used in one
profile.
Spira Piping System
Advantages of Use
In addition to uPVC piping systems advantages, VESBO® Spira Piping System advantages are;
Thanks to its easy connection technic,
it’s possible to follow the route without
using elbows.
Spira Piping System
Advantages of Use
Hydrolic Performance  uPVC Spira pipes allow to use smaller diameters than other rigid
pipes to flow the same flow rate due to its manning roughness co-efficient (0,008), which is
lower than concrete pipes(0,014-0,016). For example 800mm VESBO Spira Pipe gives the
same flow rate 1000mm concrete pipe.
Concrete Culvert

Sewage & Rainwater Systems  uPVC Spira Pipes are produced between 150 mm
up to 3600 mm OD. Thanks to it’s manhole to manhole without joint production
property, uPVC Spira pipe is the perfect solution for rainwater and sewage systems.
Due to its easy assembling and high fluidity advantage, Spira pipe is preferred by
Municipalities, Rural Services, Housing Development Administration and satellite
towns.

Highway & Motorway Applications  uPVC Spira Pipes are used instead of box
culverts in highway and motorway constructions. They are used for drainage
purposes, and as collectors in medians along the motorway. It prevents deformation
of the road’s surface, by absorbing vertical movement due to traffic loads.
