the glamour
stakes as they
arrived in style
for their end of

S
TUDENTS from Darlington School of
Mathematics and Science emerged from
limousines, stretch Hummers, open top
sports cars, American police vehicles and vintage
Rollers, to celebrate the end of their GCSE exams,
at Walworth Castle, Darlington.
“Our Year 11 students have been a
real credit to the school and
hopefully we will have more reasons
to celebrate with them when they get
their exam results later in the
summer.” Head teacher Calvin Kipling
Head of Year 11 Dave Tucker said: “This will be
my final prom event as I’m retiring at the end of
the summer term after 30 years teaching at DSMS.
“Tonight is a celebration of our Year 11’s hard
work and a chance for them to let their hair down
after the pressure of their exams.
“It’s also wonderful to see them all dressed up and
looking fantastic - they really scrub up well.”

Head teacher Calvin Kipling said: “All of our
pupils look forward to the prom, with some of
them planning what they are going to wear months
ahead.
“Although this is the last time that we will see
them all together as a year group it’s not really
goodbye as many of our students keep in touch
through our alumni association letting us know
what they are up to as they move on in their
education and careers.
