Dear Parents
What an exciting week at CKPS! The Councillors sold Valentines goodies to raise money for charity.
Thank you to everyone who either bought raffle tickets or teddies or sweets. The money is for a good cause
and helps to uplift those in our community who need it most.
We were looking forward to the first Fund Raising Committee meeting on 12 February. The expectation
was that the hall would be filled with eager new and Grade 1 parents. Unfortunately the meeting was not
well attended at all, less than 1% of parents at the school came to the meeting. The election of office
bearers went ahead and a big thank you to the parents who were willing to stand and make themselves
available to work on a valuable committee.
The office bearers for 2014 are:
Chairperson:
Vice Chairperson:
Treasurer:
Secretary:
Chantal Barnard
Annalize Van Blerk
Alyson Benjamin with Keith van der Westhuizen assisting
Kathleen Veal
Parents please make sure that your child is at school on time. The late comers seem to have increased in the
last two weeks. We understand that traffic is a problem, but it can be overcome by leaving home earlier on
rainy days. On days when traffic lights are broken, we disregard the late learners as late on those days
Herewith the important dates, and activities, for the next two weeks:

Children of Distinction: The promising 7yr
old was given the difficult assignment in
class of describing the taste of chocolate ice
cream in a single sentence.
“Chocolate”, she explained, “tastes the
opposite of vanilla.”
