SUSAN Hanco Olivier grew up and attended his Primary School days in Klerksdorp. Thereafter, he attended Grey College in Bloemfontein; and he is currently a full time student at the NW University – Pukke Campus and part of the national U/19 team currently playing against host nation England. Potchefstroom – After a bleak first innings start with the bat in the second Youth Test match which saw the Coca-Cola South Africa under-19s bowled out for 77 runs, hosts England enforced the follow-on as the visitors trailed by 316 runs at the start of Day Three on Saturday, 9 August. A much improved performance by South Africa saw them post 235/4 at stumps, thanks to a more concerted effort from the top order. Half centuries from Hanco Olivier (79*) and Janneman Malan (55), along with a 40 by Matthew Christensen, saw the visitors move forward in the match. Christensen was the driving force behind the 44-run opening stand he shared with Ryan Rickleton, who could only manage five runs from the 48 balls he faced before his stumps were disturbed by Will Rhodes in the 19th over. After his short-lived, 27-run, second-wicket partnership with Christensen, Olivier and Malan put together a vital, 109-run partnership that steered South Africa in the right direction. Olivier’s unbeaten runs came off 239 balls, including eight fours and a six, while Malan’s score came off 155 balls and seven fours. The hosts once again provided 29 substantial runs in extras to South Africa’s cause, leaving them trailing by 81 runs at stumps.
