aboutastronomylabs.Readtheentiresyllabusandrefertoitthroughoutthesemester.

PHYS1052labsarecollectivelydesignedasanalgebrabasedphysicscomponentofthePHYS1052
course.Theoverallpointtotalyoureceiveforlabcourseworkwillcountasamajorpartofyour

LABDURATION
Eachlablasts2hours.Pleasenotethatforobservatorylabs,transportationtimeisinadditionto
thedurationofthelab.Ittakesapproximately15‐20minutestogetfromcampustotheobservatory
andviceversa.
LABCHECK‐IN
Labsbeginpreciselyatthetimeslisted.CheckintolabwithrequiredmaterialsandapictureIDat
least5minutesbeforethedesignatedlab’sdesignatedstarttimeoryourseatcanbeforfeitedtoa
studentwhoispresenton“standby”.

OBSERVATORYLABMEETINGLOCATION
TransportationisONLYprovidedforobservatorylabsandleavesfromtheFoutsFieldEastbusstop

theFoutsFieldparkinglot.YoumayparkatFoutsFieldafter5pmwithoutapermit.Arriveearly

GRADES
Eachofthelabsisworthupto10points,exceptforPlanetsandtheZodiacandAncientandModern
Astronomy(eachworthupto20points).Pointsareassignedforacompletedpre‐lab,worksheet,
andquiz.Theoverallpointtotalwillbethesumofthescoresforeachlab,100beingthe
maximumpossiblenumberofpointsyoucanearn.
Attheendofthesemesteryourfinallabpointtotalwillbeissuedtoyourprofessor,andthis
willbeincludedasaportionofyourfinalcoursegrade.
