No music is to be performed again in another section by the same
competitor.
OWN CHOICE music to be handed to the MUSIC SECRETARY prior to
session and CLEARLY MARKED WITH COMPETITOR’S NO. AND ITEM
NO. Suitability of OWN CHOICE will be considered by the Adjudicator. LIST
OF PIANO CHAMPIONSHIP REPERTOIRE required 24 hours prior to
competition. COMPETITORS IN CHAMPIONSHIPS must perform in ONE
other SOLO SECTION IN AGE GROUP. Entry in QUICK STUDY, OR
SIGHT READING DOES NOT SATISFY THIS CRITERIA.
COPYRIGHT- MEMORIZED SECTIONS – Original music must be provided
for the Adjudicator
NON MEMORIZED SECTIONS – Competitors MUST use original music
and provide photocopy for the adjudicator.
EISTEDDFOD is required to destroy all photocopies at the end of each
section.

PIANO SECTION
ENTRIES ACCEPTED ONLY SUBJECT TO GENERAL CONDITIONS P2 AND
SPECIAL CONDITIONS P3. Competitors are eligible to enter all solo sections in
their own age levels and may enter ONE Piano SOLO section beyond
their age level. The Committee reserves the right to subdivide or combine
sections.

1.
Entries will not be accepted unless accompanied by the correct amount of entry fee, which includes cost of
adjudication paper and competitors admission to hall. Adjudication papers will be available AT THE END OF
EACH SECTION, AT THE REAR DESK.
2. Please make all cheques, money orders or postal notes payable to WYNNUM MANLY EISTEDDFOD INC. and
not to any individual. A STAMPED ADDRESSED ENVELOPE MUST ACCOMPANY EACH ENTRY for return
of the acknowledgment card, which is necessary for admission.
3. Where an age limit is stated it will be that age as of JANUARY 1ST in the year in which the Eisteddfod is held.
4. For solo sections competitors may enter ONLY in their own age group except in IN PIANO SOLO SECTIONS
WHERE ENTRANTS ARE ALLOWED TO ENTER ONE SECTION ABOVE THEIR PRESENT AGE LEVEL.
5. 1st, 2nd and 3rd places will be awarded in all items except where the Adjudicator considers merit insufficient.
THE ADJUDICATOR’S DECISION IS FINAL.
6. The Committee reserves the right to amend the programme venue, and/or date at any time in the event of
unforseen circumstances.
7. Protests if any, must be made IN WRITING and lodged with the appropriate Convenor within half an hour of the
cause of the protest and accompanied by a fee of TEN DOLLARS, which will be forfeited if the protest is
considered frivolous by the Protest Committee.
8. All competitors must be in the assembly area prior to the commencement of the session.
9. Props should be kept to a minimum to avoid unnecessary delay between items.
10. Trophies or Prize Money donated subsequent to the printing of the Schedule or Programme will be allocated at
the discretion of the Committee.
11. No prompting or assistance of any kind may be given by any person other than the Adjudicator – ONE ACT
PLAYS EXCEPTED.
12. Competitors requiring the services of an Accompanist are responsible for providing their own.
13. Late entries will be accepted for ONE WEEK after the closing dates, as listed, AT DOUBLE FEES. Any
exception to the above will be at the discretion of the Convenor. All entries to be mailed to PO BOX 687,
WYNNUM CENTRAL Q. 4178, unless prior arrangements are made with the Convenor.
14. All competitors take part in the Eisteddfod at their own risk.
15. All competitors will be numbered and the order of appearance will be shown in the official programme. Where
the Committee deems it necessary to divide sections, competitors must appear in the section to which he/she is
allocated.
16. Competitors should take special note of TIME LIMITS as they WILL BE PENALISED
for going overtime.
17. The Committee reserves the right to appoint a substitute Adjudicator.
18. Private use of CAMERAS AND/OR VIDEOS will NOT BE PERMITTED in the hall during the DANCE
EISTEDDFOD.
19. In all DUET/DUO, TRIO and DIOLOGUE sections, the names of both/all competitors must be stated on the one
entry form..
20. Entry fees are NON REFUNDABLE.
21. The definition of ‘AMATEUR’ for the purpose of competing in the Wynnum Manly Eisteddfod shall be ‘ANY
PERSON NOT WORKING FULL TIME AS A TEACHER AND/OR PERFORMER’. Student teachers presently
studying and/or teaching under the guidance of professional teachers, are classified as ‘amateur’. Confirmation
in writing may be requested from student teachers in the case of a dispute.
22. IN THE CASE OF A TIE, where aggregates are calculated and one award and/or trophy is competed for, the
final decision will rest with the ADJUDICATOR. It will be the Adjudicator’s decision also if he/she requires an
additional performance from tied competitors in order to make the final decision.
23. Personal communication with, or other representation to the ADJUDICATOR during the Eisteddfod, is strictly
prohibited. This rule applies equally to competitors, teachers, parent, friends or other interested parties. The
Committee may consider disqualification of any competitor involved in a breach of this rule. Any approach must
be initiated by the Adjudicator.

WELCOME TO OUR ADJUDICATOR 2014
PATRICIA MC GUIRE
F.T.C.L.; L.MUS; A.MUS.(Theory)
M.T.A.Q.
Patricia teaches piano, theory and is a vocal repetiteur/accompanist and instrumental
coach/accompanist. As a pianist, she has had broad experience in the classics and as a
cocktail pianist in the jazz/popular repertoire. Her personal repertoire includes her
own arrangements of many of the jazz standards.
Patricia has taught many successful candidates to advanced levels in the classical, jazz
and contemporary repertoire of AMEB, Trinity College and ANZCA Syllabi. She was
awarded the Emily Sutter Gold Medal for her Trinity College fellowship. Her theory
tuition has brought many distinctions and she regularly tutors students within the music faculty at UQ.
Patricia has acted as official accompanist for MTAQ masterclasses including those
given by Margreta Elkins, Geogory Massingham, Paul Neal and Sydney’s Elizabeth
Todd and she very much enjoyed her work as accompanist for Queenie van de Zandt’s
MasterClasses in “Auditioning for Musical Theatre”.
Patricia has broad experience as coach and accompanist to instrumentalists of all types.
