A B A F a l l S h o w c a s e S e r i e s Tr y o u t s New Mexico Tryouts The ABA Fall Showcase Series Tryouts will be held on Saturday, August 9th and Sunday August 10th at Lobo Field. Freshman and Sophomores Saturday, August 9th- 9:00 AM (Check in begins at 8:30 AM) Juniors and Seniors Sunday, August 10th– 9:00 AM (Check in begins at 8:30 AM) West Texas West Texas players interested in attending the Fall Showcase Series please contact Ryan Brewer at 505-730-6979 or [email protected] 4 Corner Classic The 4 Corner Classic was held May 30– June 1 in Peoria, Arizona. The ABA 17U, 16U and 15U teams all attended and had great tournaments. The 17U team coached by Lauro Felix repeated as champions playing up in the 18U division a year after winning the 16U division. This years 16U teams coached by Bobby Bunch and Noel Baca both finished the tournament with 3-1 records. ABA Bunch lost in the quarterfinals while ABA Bunch was unable to make it out of pool despite a 2-1 record. They won their consolation game to finish with a 3-1 record. The 15U teams coached by Matt Foote and Chris Alexander competed in the 16U division and both played really well playing up against older competition. ABA Foote won their pool with a 2-1 record and lost in the quarterfinals in an extra inning ballgame. ABA Alexander didn't make it out of pool play but finished with a 2-2 record. S o u t h w e s t Wo o d B a t C l a s s i c The ABA 15’s and 16’s competed in the Southwest Wood Bat Classic in Tempe, Arizona June 20-22. ABA Bunch and ABA Baca both went undefeated in pool play (4-0) and faced off in the semifinals. ABA Bunch won that matchup and went on to win the 16U championship. ABA Foote and ABA Alexander played in the 15U division. ABA Foote lost in the semifinal to the eventual champion. ABA Alexander competed really well and lost a few 1 run games that prevented them from making it out of their pool. 1 8 U C o n n i e M a c k Wo r l d S e r i e s Qualifier The ABA 17’s attended the AABC Connie Mack World Series Qualifier June 24-27. ABA Felix went 5-0 and was the only undefeated team through 5 games. Outstanding pitching performances headlined the first 5 games of the tournament. Through the first 5 game ABA Felix allowed just 4 runs, including complete game shutouts from Joe Standley and Sean Allin. The 17’s were eventually eliminated with a 5-2 record but had a great showing and were eliminated by the tournament champion DBAT. 16U Lubbock Classic The West Texas ABA 16s and 15s competed in the 16U Lubbock Classic over 4th of July weekend. The 4 ABA West Texas teams in the tournament all competed and ABA WT Madison won the tournament. ABA WT Foster lost in the semifinals. College Commitments Congratulations to Grant Little from Midland Christian High School for committing to Texas Tech University.
