Meet Our Programming Staff
Dan Becker is Deputy Director of Programming for the ABA Center for Professional Development. He
oversees the team of producers that creates professional development and continuing legal education
(CLE) programs and products to provide ABA Members, non-members, and the legal community at large
with the quality education needed to establish and maintain high standards of practice, and to fulfill state
bar requirements for CLE.
Before starting with the Center for Professional Development, Dan worked for the ABA’s Rule of Law
Initiative, Latin America and Caribbean Division administering the overseas programs of ABA/LALIC.
Dan started his career in education as a history professor after obtaining his PhD at the University of
Maryland before switching his career focus to legal associations.
Shannon Burke produces professional development and continuing legal education programs and, in
doing so, helps attorneys and other professionals master the skills they need to succeed in their chosen
fields. Prior to joining the ABA, Shannon practiced appellate law at a Chicago-based family law firm and
taught appellate advocacy at DePaul University College of Law. She has also served as a judicial law
clerk to Justice (ret.) Marilyn Kelly of the Michigan Supreme Court and Justice P. Scott Neville of the
Illinois Appellate Court.
Amy Gelbman is an Associate Director of Educational Programs for the ABA Center for Professional
Development, helping the groups she works with to meet their strategic goals. She assists groups to
create substantive continuing legal education (CLE) programs, provides consultation and technical
assistance, and engages in external outreach.
Prior to the ABA, Amy worked at RUSH Medical College, of RUSH University Medical Center, in
instructional design and curriculum development. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Spanish
from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and her Master of Arts degree in Education from DePaul
University.
Before Albert Lee started with the Center for Professional Development, he worked with Fastcase, an
online legal publishing house that provides online legal research. There, he managed the firm’s current
Bar and legal organization partnerships, developed new partnerships, conducted live and web-based
trainings, and represented the company at major conferences and speaking events.
Albert received his Bachelors of Arts in Political Science (International Relations) and History from
Creighton University and his JD from the George Washington University Law School. Prior to law school,
Albert was a soldier in the United States Army and spent his time in the Honor Guard at Arlington
National Cemetery. After the Army, he worked in the private sector in international trade and as a project
manager with General Electric. Albert has lived on both coasts and was raised in the Midwest.
Earnestine Murphy has been with the ABA for over 40 years. Her time is devoted mainly to the
production and execution of live one or two-day in-person CLE efforts for various sections. She also
produces distance learning programs for the Health Law and Criminal Justice sections and the ABA’s
showcase member-benefit distance-learning CLEs.
Emily Roschek produces distance and in person professional development and continuing legal
education programs for ABA members and the legal community at large. Her goal is to craft programming
that meets the unique needs of each group she works with. Prior to the ABA, Emily was the Mandatory
Continuing Legal Education (MCLE) Coordinator at The Chicago Bar Association. She also practiced
labor and employment law in a small firm, served in the general counsel’s office of the Illinois Education
Association-NEA, and has large firm eDiscovery experience. She holds a J.D. from Chicago-Kent College
of Law and B.A. from the University of Michigan.
