We All Have Gifts to Give. Give What You’ve Got.
There was an article in one of the magazines I read about giving
what you have in order to experience happiness, gratitude and
a better world. Making the moments of your life count in special
ways, in other words.
Our generosity may have no limits, but, unfortunately, our wallets
do. It is important to know that little donations make a difference
because collectively, they add up to tremendous amounts. An
astounding $300 billion was given to charities in the United States
in 2012 and the bulk did not come from the most wealthy. Those
$5 and $25 gifts from people like you and me are what made this
total so large and so crucial to the charities we support.
you design, paint or sew? The Community Playhouse can surely
help you put those talents to work. Can you drive a car? Meals
on Wheels can use your help by delivering meals to the elderly. If
you sing, join the Chamber Choir and help sustain a much-loved
part of our cultural landscape. Do you have extra time? Many of
our community’s non profits need volunteers of every sort to assist
with programs or to perform administrative functions.
It is important to remember that true charity is sharing what you
have – not only your money, but also your time, talent and spirit.
Spread your wealth, in whatever form you can – all are important
and will make the moments of your life richer.

Looking Back...
Art & Soul Gala and Silent Auction 2014 was on February 8, 2014 at the Bradley Arts &
Sciences Building. We were able to raise funds in excess of $15,000 to continue our mission
of providing arts opportunities throughout Lancaster County. Funds raised support arts
therapy programs, summer arts and sciences camp, community concerts and exhibits, and
many opportunities to advance the mission of the LCCA in our community.

Liz Bell, 33, is the Arts Therapist at
Southside Early Childhood Center. She
graduated from Converse College in
Spartanburg, SC with a Bachelor of Arts
in Art Therapy and minored in Special
Education. Bell teaches children ranging
from the ages of 3-4 years old.
Why she teaches:
Bell realized early on that creating art gives
her an outlet for expression. She wanted
to give children an opportunity to express
themselves through art.
Southside Smiles:
The highlight of her day is seeing the joyful
expressions across all her students’ faces.
They are overjoyed and eager to create
their masterpieces.
Lessons learned:
“Don’t give up on yourself. It is the process
we go through that makes us who we are.”
The Arts Beyond program allows the LCCA
to maintain an Arts Therapy Instructor at
Southside Early Childhood Center who
enhances the educational experience
by use of the arts for over 200 pre-K
special needs children. Funding for this
program is through the generosity of the
J. Marion Sims Foundation and our LCCA
membership.
