Common error codes
E50 - No Services found
This message is directly related to the smartcard. All programs are stored on and read from
the card. If the card is in upside down then you may see this message. If the decoder times
out while you are aligning the dish then you may well see this message. An easy way to
rectify this is to make sure your dish is aligned to the satellite and press the RESET button on
the front of the decoder for 3 seconds. The unit will restart, rescan and all channels will
scan in. It is also possible that your LNB settings are wrong. Check these settings and then
perform a rescan using the reset button.
E48 - No Signal
There are a few possibilities here. Either way, the decoder is not receiving satellite signal.
This could be due to (in order of most likely):




The dish is not aligned correctly. Use a digital satellite meter to confirm this is the
case.
If the digital meter confirms you are aligned to the Optus C1/D3 satellites AND you
are still receiving this message, your settings are wrong within the decoder. Enter
the Antenna settings menu and ensure that the LNB or LO frequency is set to 10.700.
Check your LNB skew position.
Faulty IF input (SAT IN) on the back of the decoder. The Altech DSD4121 has a
known tendency to break connection from the main board if too much force is
applied to the tensioning of the external F connector (hand tight only).
NO SIGNAL
If you only see these words on the front of your TV - you're on the wrong channel. There
are two ways to connect your decoder to your TV. First is via the AV yellow, white and red
cables and second (preferred) is via the HDMI cable. If via the AV cables, press the SOURCE,
INPUT or AV button on your TV remote control and change to the AV channel (sometimes
called COMPOSITE). If via HDMI, change to the HDMI channel. Make sure the VAST decoder
isn't on standby and displaying the time. If it is, press the standby power button on your
VAST remote control. Now you'll see something else and hopefully all is working well.
Blank Screen
If the VAST decoder comes on, scans in all the channels then goes to a blank screen, it is
likely that the decoder is returning to standby state. Simply turn it on with the standby
button on your VAST remote control.
E16-4
Have you activated your smartcard at the MySatTV website? It can take up to 48hrs for the
card to be switched on. If you already have, visit the troubleshooting section of their
website and click on the reactivating link. Enter your card number and rehit the card while
the decoder is switched on and aligned to the satellite. You should get picture within a few
seconds.
E06-4
This indicates that the card is not being read by the decoder. Ensure the card is inserted
inside the correct way (chip downwards and in first). Usually removing and reinserting the
card several times while switched on will rectify this issue. With the Altech DSD4121 it is
best to then switch the decoder off at power and restart.
Most of the time, common problems can be fixed by ensuring that your dish is aligned
accurately, pressing the RESET button on the front of the decoder then re-hitting the card at
this LINK.
SatPlus use and recommend SatKing and Humax branded VAST Certified satellite decoders.
