Minimum of 5 years successful experience in teaching; two year minimum of administration experience preferred. Special Education certification. Knowledge of laws, guidelines, regulations and State standards regarding special education. Knowledge of LRE and making appropriate placements, research based instruction, programs currently available in local agencies. Performance Responsibilities: Oversees Elementary special education programs and placements in district and through BOCES/private agencies. CSE Chairperson for cases for Elementary students/Manifestation Hearings. Attends Elementary Principal’s meetings as determined by the Director of Special Education. Supervises district Speech Pathologists, Hearing Teachers and Vision Teachers. Interfaces as appropriate with contracted service providers. Utilizes and coordinates services of Elementary CLS in conjunction with Director of Special Education. Provides direct instructional support of Elementary special education teachers. Coordinates placement of classified students in private agency or residential settings 5. Attends Elementary Principal meetings as determined by the Director of Special Education 6. Supervises district Speech Pathologists, Hearing Teacher and Vision Teachers. 7. Interfaces as appropriate with contracted service providers 8. Utilizes and coordinates services of Elementary CLS in conjunction with Director of Special Education 9. Provides direct instructional support of elementary special education teachers 10. Coordinates NYSAA process 11. Coordinates Extended School Year (ESY) services for qualified students. 12. Conducts observations of special education teachers in cooperation with Building Principals as assigned 13. Assists in preparation of SED data reporting as assigned by Director 14. Duties as assigned
