Dear Friend *FESTIVAL GUESTS The first Melbourne Jewish Writers Festival is fast approaching. This exciting event will bring together writers from Australia and overseas. All forms of writing will be showcased and all age groups targeted. We are aiming for a wide-ranging and inclusive festival. From Overseas David Grossman (live link-up) Dara Horn Matthue Roth Zeruya Shalev Peter and Renata Singer Irvin Yalom (live link-up) Highlights include international authors, Dara Horn and Matthue Roth (USA) and Zeruya Shalev (Israel) and via video linkup, Irving Yalom in the US and David Grossman in Israel. Rachel Berger will host a gala evening on Saturday 31 May with several festival guests on the theme “It Started with a Word”. On Sunday and Monday in the Lamm Library and Beth Weizman, concurrent sessions of panel discussions, interviews, conversations and many more programmed activities will take place. We are looking for volunteers for the following tasks: 1. Driving our interstate & international guests: Pick up from airport and return; pick up and return from accommodation to Festival venue 2. Registration desk 3. Ushers for individual sessions (showing people where to go, where to sit) 4. Set up and decorating marquee in the car park in front Lamm Library. 5. Help at Book Signing desks. 7. General help including cleanup of venues Volunteers will be required for ½ days shifts and can attend sessions for free if the session is not sold out. Exclusions apply to the following events - David Grossman, Irving Yalom & the Gala event.
